CPU Overlay

Can anyone tell me what this overlay is and where I can get it?

Looks like MSI Afterburner, it can monitor all sorts of stuff.

The overlay is actually part of RivaTuner, which comes bundled with Afterburner but can be installed independently*

*am assuming that, never actually tried it.

A little tip, I use FPS-Monitor, a very good tool with a great overview of the current hardware parameters… :ok_hand: :star_struck:

This product (trial version) crashes my FS the moment I close the app. I tried to figure out how to get a overlay to appear in FS and when it didnt seem obvious I clicked the close button. FS CTD

Nope. I did install it but it complained when I started it up. Says it needs DirectX to work properly. Very odd as I have DirectX 12 installed.

Just wanted to add that the software listed above has been known to cause crashes. Presumably not its mere existence, but because of unstable overclocks. It is mentioned in the Support sites list of fixes.]

It seems to me this is more trouble than its worth. There are YouTube instructions how to install the required directX runtimes from June 2010 (Why would I install something 13 years old just to get an overlay) and while FPS Monitor looks promising the “Try Out” option leaves a lot to be desired. The overlay shows while game (or flight) is loading but disappears once the load is done.

There’s also the recently released “Intel PresentMon” which is easy to use.

You should have all DirectX and C++ libraries installed.

Command prompt is still based on MS-DOS from 1981

Yup. Very easy to use and works well too. Thanks for the tip

I tried FPS Monitor in the demo form and immediately purchased it. What a revelation after wrestling with MSI Afterburner/RTSS! FPS Monitor is almost infinitely flexible and intuitive. Best of all, it does exactly what you think it will do, based on your settings. Thanks so much for the tip!

I suggest Msi Afterburner/RivatunerStatisticServer + HWINFO64 combination. You can adjust to see HWinfo64’s any statistics also with Rivatunerstatisticsserver. You can get very detailed info ingame combining both like this one Imgur: The magic of the Internet
