When we will see cpu optimizations in usage? From what i saw cpu usage is what is causing the low fps or bottleneck in overall…good cpus or high end pcs having low fps…
i have a i7 - 9700k and i have low fps in cockpit and my gpu is a RX 5700 XT and i have 32gb ddr4.
Some optimizations in cpu would be very helpful
Maybe when the program is moved to DX12 it will be able to better use muticore CPUs.
The latest development update states that it will be anounced with X-Box launch, which is scheduled for November 10th.
Honestly, I wouldn´t be very optimistic about this, both about the release date, and the improvements we can expect…
It would be small step for the community and a giant leap for Asobo.
And it would be optimized in steps sure, in the correct path, they say in a beginning a 10% of gains, that is remarkable and very good, and the future is coming, I want to believe.
I already have an optimization !. All cores are below 50% since update 1.10.7. Before, one core was close to 100%.
So will be impossible to enjoy this sim at +30/40 fps…damit…
my problem is not outside of the plane, but into the cockpit. Outside i run with high fps most of the time
They said something about in the last Q&A. There will be optimizations especially for those that are limited by the MainThread/CPU.
I did not hear that, does anybody know approximately at what point they discussed that in the video?
It’s at 11:50 and according to them it’s probably in the next update (#6)
This is not scientific, but the last patch looks far less CPU bound than it was before to me. I think they have already done quite a lot of CPU optimization. Now my FPS are largely GPU bound rather than CPU bound. That’s why many people report that the game is runs smoother, with less stutter than before.
edit: this is confirmed by CPU usage optimization - #4 by PapageiBoot65
In the cockpit, you need to lower the framerate of the Garmin screens, as they are written in Javascript and refreshed at max by default. There is an option for that but I don’t remember its name. Put it to LOW and you’ll gain quite a few FPS.
I seen to be GPU bound.
3700x with a 2070S. Playing at 1440p on mostly high and get ~60fps chase cam and 50fps in cockpit
From Train Simulator by Dovetail - I believe you only need a licence from brands (for liveries and plane models) if you make money from selling a product with these things in. Certain train sim developers do this by selling blank models and then supplying (separately) FREE livery packs. Therefore, the actual liveries do not make the company money.
I appreciate this may be specific to UK law.
Good luck getting Virgin to allow you to use their brand btw!
Thanks, it’s hard sometimes to overcome the accent
I think you’re in the wrong thread…
Its the old fsx engine this sim is build off, dx12 perhaps will gain some fps
How did you get the display to show frequency?
No i mean in the video they say they want to licence every single airline…
But this thread is about CPU optimization which is why i posted the Q&A. So let’s stay on topic.
There’s a dedicated thread to talk about all the stuff from the Q&A in the General Discussions category.
Oh right yeah sorry, see what you mean now.
