Hi all someone Knows about to solve this problem…My msfs was doing by someday, when from the flight session i want to return in main menu…the game crash during loading e nothing happen …i have to close session by windows…thanks all
Yes, happened to me several times after SU14. But seems to happen random so don’t know what could be causing it.
Same. Just happened again. Ending flight, the loading bar stops and task manager says “not responding”. This is something new with SU14.
There is another thread on this: Sim Lockups
Maybe a moderator can merge? One topic with more response might get better visibility.
Are you Xbox or PC. If PC how string is your rig. I can hem up to 5 monitors on my PC, 2 of them being tables for pop outs. But thaat is toomuch for the sim, but if I run with 3 monitots all is OK.
Same here too, MSFS freezes when I select/click “END MAIN MENU” and I have to use the task manager to end/terminate MSFS, very annoying
Same here. MSFS freeze and no action except going to taskmanager and quit the exe is possible. Interestingly taskmanager does not note that the flightsimulator exe is without response. This behavior starts after updating the Nvidia driver about 2 weeks ago. But that could be just a coincidence.
Same problem here. Have to kill the game with task manager if I try to return to the main menu.
It happens to me 50% of the time now. Tried on 2 nvidia drivers, and various desktop programs combo, close opening etc. I am guessing it has to do with mixing high refresh monitors? What monitors you guys using? I am using a 60 and a 165.
That’s was my thought too. But since one week I’m now using two identical 1440 gsync (gsync enabled) monitors and it happens again. Both monitors are connected via DSP to a 4080 card.
Since a few days I have noticed the same thing at home and mainly when using VR.
The launch works fine. I activate VR, it works. But as soon as I finish the flight and the game returns to the main screen, 1 out of 3 times the game freezes. I launch the task manager but it remains behind the MSFS screen. The only solution I have is to log out of my windows11 session.
This is the only method I have.
I thought about an addon but even in safe mode so without the Community I also have the problem, sometime
Yo this just came in from my cousin who suffered the same thing. For him at least, turns out the XMP isn’t really accurate so he bumped the VDIMM 0.05V and it fixed all the quit to main with his DDR5.
I have DDR4 from corsair they 1.35, so I 1.37 in the bios and so far so good. Same timing of course why would you not XMP. Try it!
I had the same problem but it would freeze.
If you have a mod installed in fs2020 file (if you do) That doesn’t work it might be it.
Just delete it.
It should work if you have a mod that doesn’t work and you have that problem
I bought a nice system and installed MSFS 2weeks ago. I have no add ons etc and most of the time when I exit a sim from the world map to go to main menu the blu bar makes it about 40 percent across and just freezes. This started yesterday
Okay, just found out that it wasn’t the problem and here’s how to fix it (probably)
Go to your File Explorer, go to this pc and see if there is a red line beneath where it says “Local Disk” If there is then you need to remove some apps until it’s not red.
if it doesn’t work it might be a corrupt file or something else.
Im going to see if the update 15 coming out soon fixes it. If not ill run a repair.
Hi @Richard371SF
Welcome to the forums & the wonderful world of MSFS, though it sounds like it is not too wonderful for you right now ![]()
Three questions for you:
- Does the freeze happen every time or just intermittently?
- Does the blue bar always stop at roughly the same spot or at different spots each time?
- Which version of MSFS do you have - MS Store, Steam, Gamepass or…?
Can you us with provide the make & model of your CPU & GPU, and GPU driver version?
Thanks!
it happens most of the time when I leave a world map sim to the main menu.
blue bar always stops at the same place about 40%
im on the PC MS store Xbox version.
What’s interesting is that instead of going to the main menu I do an activity instead for a bit then I can go to the main menu no freezes.

@Richard371SF
Hi! Thanks for that info.
Hmmm. When I leave a flight ( i.e. press Esc and then return to the main menu), I get back to the welcome screen almost immediately. I’m thinking it may be an issue with the sim trying to connect to the MS servers in the cloud & failing.
Try this test. Next time it happens, temporarily disconnect your Internet connection and see what happens. If it is a connection issue, this might force the sim to time-out & return to the main menu. I’m speculating here, but it is a quick and easy test to do, and if nothing happens after a minute or so, you can just re-enable the Internet connection.
I have the same problem. I am running MSFS on a PC. I luckily have never had any problems until SU14. The game runs awesome until I go to “Return to Main” and the sim crashes to the Desktop every time. Tried with empty Community file and same crash.
