I was only able to perform airport to airport flight if I did the quick local up and down flights that were 30 minutes or less. I started doing the “Run as Administrator” action on running the game and I’m having much more success. I’ve done almost a 2 hour flight now and this weekend I’m going to try a coast to coast and see how that goes.
I too have been experiencing repeated crashes to desktop at one specific location.
I purchased MSFS 2020 on its release date and have begun a round-the-world trip in the Cessna CJ4 and successfully flew from the US west coast to the east coast. However, I found that my game crashes to desktop every time when on final approach to Keflavik airport, BIKF, in Iceland. The game will even crash when attempting to simply load this airport. I have the following recently purchased gaming computer; Intel Core i7-9700KF CPU, 3.60 GHz 8 cores, 32 GB ram, NVIDIA EVGA GeForce RTX2080Ti.
Hello FutureFlyer
I did have a issue with crashing to the disktop. It took every bit of 24 hrs to install, then after i thought it was done. I ran the simulator, but as it was about to finish loading it crashed to the desktop. I have ask for a refund.
This is on their known issue list… the iceland glitch.
Might as well Chime in as well. I successfully flew a LAX to SYDNEY long flight in the 787 on Wednesday, BUT - yesterday tried CHICAGO to LONDON twice and it CTD. Last time was on Decent to Approach into Heathrow. LAst night, I set CHICAGO to ABU DABI over night and came down to desktop. SO it crashed as well. FRUSTRATING. I’m going to do short hops today and challenges, and see if it does the same. btw Intel i9-10900K, 64GB RAM, RTX 2080Ti, 2TB SSD.
(sidenote - I did notice “noise” at night in the dark from cockpit view on my Heathrow approach before it crashed. Looked like white static above the cockpit instruments. And last night flying to Abu Dabi, there was some blocky pixels in the clouds too. With my system, this shouldn’t be happening. So maybe that’s a clue)
Yes. I have daily crash to desktops. I can still enjoy the sim and fly a lot of the legs i choose to fly. But oboy, yes i have loads of CTD. Annoying as hell but what can we do. Its the state it is in.
That’s the attitude I am taking. Not much you can do at this point.
Quick Update - Starting 5 hours ago, I took off from Edinburgh Scotland with ONLY Autopilot (Speed 360 knots, ALT 30,000 ) . I didn’t plot a Departure Airport, and used no LNAV or GPS. I pointed it WSW toward America, and let it go. I flew until I saw land, and figured out where I was using Google Maps. I just asked BANGOR MAINE INTERNATIONAL for clearance to land, took control, was on final approach, less than 1 min from landing, gear out, flaps full, and it CTD. Frustrating, but hoping next weeks update fixes it.
Brutal! I know, I hope the patch helped: I’m going to limit my sim time for now, super frustrating. I was on a 3 hour leg in the 172… was running so great… smooth, great FPS everything looked awesome. Boom 2 hours in crash.
I’ve only CTD when a new USB Device is active it… Its happen every time i switch on the printer! Argg…
Hi… I am experiencing repeateadly crashes during US East Coast flight, specifically between RNGRR and Trenton. Game is updated to latest version, still can not pass this waypoint. Game just freezes and then go to desktop without any mesage.
My computer is quite big enough to support the game (I7-8700@ 3,2GHz, 32GB RAM Windows 10 Pro)
Looks like there is something wrong on the route…
Now, 4 months after the pioneering days, do you still experience CTDs caused by a weak internet connection? At least this is my suspected cause for the sudden CTDs I experience with an internet bandwidth of meager 10mbits in download and 1mbit in upload. Sometimes the sim seems to “buffer” terrain data, the screen freezes for 2-3 seconds and then recaps and continues the flight. But, too often it crashes without warning even when no photometric scenery is around.
Really frustrating, because rebooting the sim takes quite a bit of time as you all know.
For you, did the situation change since your posts in August?
Well, i had no crashes before, but after the latest update, it’s pure luck…it can crash any time or not.
Definately, for 2-3 hours, i’m having crashes after like 15 mins flying… Until today, I’ve never faced with such a problem.
Pretty random ctd, typically 1 in 3 flights.
i’m getting a lot of CTD startup issues now . Had been rock solid until this release (zero CTDs).
I have an empty community folder and have made no changes to my FS rig.
Are there some speific versions of the graphics driver that may be at play here. I updated to the latest (nvidia+3080) just the same CTD’s all the time. I have a 100% stable system.
I now rarely get CTDs. I went through a period a few weeks ago where it was nothing but CTDs. I reinstalled the sim and rolled back my GPU drivers and that seems to have helped. My internet is 80-90MBPS consistently.
When i turn off and erase all the cache, everyting solved it seems so far. No more CTD.
My experience was fine, until I returned from a short vacation and rebooted my machine to fly.
I get the update screen, then it moves to the next screen, a loading blue bar is half way on the bottom of the screen, and then it crashes to the desktop, no error messages. I rebooted, I shut it down and started back up, I reverted to older drivers, went back to the latest NVIDIA driver…same results…it always crashes to desktop at the same point. I signed out of my game account…started back in the simulator same result…I have no clue what is wrong…I even did a repair from the settings menu…no change. I had no prior history of regular crashes before.
Does any body have a good suggestion?
I had crashes ever 5 to 10 minutes into a flight, the reason for that was I overclocked my RAM to match my CPU specifications, after disabling every overclocking features (X. M. P for Intel, D. O. C. P for AMD) I have no issues. Flying for hours without any CTD.
