Crash to desktop without error message

Yes, there is certainly no laughing matter :sob:

It’s just a funny coincidence that you and I wrote about the developer mode effect at the same time.

Yes, my external disk is ExFat, my internal one is NTFS.

I also checked my old HDD that used to store MSFS and that one is also NTFS. That said, before update 5 there was no issue on my external SSD.

If i knew what a SATA cable was I would probably try it.

Forget it.
If you had an issue with your SATA cables (the cables carrying data from the HD/SSD to the main board), your OS would constantly crash as it keeps transferring all the time.

ExFat you might get away with however Fat32 no chance but anyway why ask for trouble? The same with external hard drives, the vast majority are intended for data portability not to run games from and mid flight MSFS having to wake it up every few minutes to search for scenery isn’t exactly ideal.

can confirm, GA Planes seem to work, Commercial jets suffer under CTDs.

Blockquote why ask for trouble?

Sadly my laptop’s internal SSD isn’t very large so I try to avoid installing too much stuff on it.

If you can borrow another drive or computer to back your existing files up to it would be good so that you can format your external one to NTFS and then simply copy your files back. Once done you will need to find a setting that stops your drive from sleeping or hibernating, I can’t help too much as I’m on windows 11 but google is always your friend.

Why did I say I wasn’t having CTDs?! Now I have frequent ones, once every 2 flights unfortunetely!
Sim is broken.

If you are using the NXi from the marketplace, try uninstalling it.

Only your main as with the right settings peripheral drives can be hotplugged. I must admit it’s unlikely out of the box.

all of these are mods… it makes not different where you get it from. We learned often enough, that mods from marketplace have the same “zero compatibility pre-check” than the “normal” community mods.

But not only the mods makes trouble. Dont forget the connected devices. There are reports from users with saitek devices, etc.

May be interessting for eg.:

Hi Micha,

Although I have never mentioned it, I have a Saitek Trim Wheel, as soon I use it to trim, I get an annoying pause where the simulator locks-up. Pre hot-fix patch for SU5 this was for around a minute. It does not cause a CTD however, I can now understand why some USB controllers might. The pause is now around 8 seconds with the hot-fix patch.

Charles.

yesterday windows build 19043.1151 (optional) was offered in winUpdate and I installed it.

The CTD of these days is gone.

repeating the same again and again will not help that the developers can find the reason in your case quicker and they can also not fix it faster

here also again the link for issues which happens ensured since 1.18… : Crash to desktop without error message - #4994 by ITDreamFly

Im posting CTD logs without analyzing if they are different or same, and will continue to do so as this thread is what it’s for. You on the other hand… do you have too much free time?
And it’s not happening since 1.18 for me, but way before.

i have tried 10 reinstalls of both msfs2020 and window EVERYTHING is updated FULLY
cant stop ctd flight last between 1 an 5 minutes
i think asobo should have waited till every thing is fixed before releasing new updates
when msfs was FIRST released every thing worked FINE
not one ctd… now with the latest release CONSTANT ctd…really frustrating
we should not have to be computer engineers and programmers to try and fix asobos problems
we paid GOOD money for this product IT SHOULD WORK!!!
