Crash to desktop without error message

just flew without atc sound, and instead ctd when glide to touch runway was micro… nano freeze

I used to have ctd after 10 min flying then tried the solution proposed in Jhonny8916’s post and it worked!! I checked every point of the video and now, I flew for 2 hours without any ctd anymore. Great !!
Thanks a lot.

Every one of these steps are absolutely ridiculous to play a game without crashes. I can’t believe the dev hasn’t fixed this game yet. My pc runs solid on all games except this one, I refuse to modify my system in such extensive ways to make this game work. I’ve uninstalled and doing my best to forget this game exists. If I could get a refund on my gamepass subscription I would. Can’t believe one of the suggestions is to turn of Win 10 virus protection lol and this game is published by MS!

While I posted that video, it was originally posted a few posts up from someone else who couldn’t post a link.

I don’t turn off or exclude any folders in AV on my system. Also in that video is changing paging file, that I have set as Windows 10 managed (which is default on all Windows 10 installs). I don’t have any CTD’s and only issues are those noted by Asobo. But my system is setup different than most in that I have 2 boot drives. One for gaming (mostly MSFS) and the other boot drive for my everyday PC. My gaming boot is optimized strictly for it both in Windows 10 and BIOS. When I setup Windows 10, I always do it from the downloads from MS and never a reset within Windows; that way, it’s truly a clean install.

Faulting module name: CoherentGTCore.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5f69f758
Exception code: 0xc0000409 <<<<< first one this days
p.s. as all my crash when i flight after 20-30-60-90 min, i forgot all the time mention about this detail

More and more, It seems to me that it is either a memory mishandling issue or a thread handling issue. On longer flights, my FPS steadily decreases and finally it crashes, i think when tries to load something.

yap, same here. came up a couple of days after 1.9.5 surfaced. the game crashes now to me on every flight so far. zendesk ticket is still open, even though they “solved” another one a few days ago.

Same here, CTD on longer flights without error codes.

i had today before that’s one memeory_management bsod, but i found after sfs /scannow solved problems, must be first time used it, as before didn’t believe it can found something, but that coherent.dll was after when i look around in the cockpit with changing pov

Since the last patch, I have experienced crash to desktop a few times, and it’s really getting frustrating. Really annoying to not be able to do a stupid flight. Also really annoying to not be able to get KSFO to show up in a FMC. Back to Xplane for awhile I guess.

Hi guys, any fix for this crash to desktop yet? Its getting ridiculous now. Its beginning to feel like P3D all over again, one might as well have stayed with that, at least we get better study level aircrafts

two long flights without pc restart and without crash, what happens? where gone my crashes? i miss them lol…
p.s. pc restart i mean by my self, i haven’t that accidently hard crashes what restart pc by itself, only when mess with oc, and must be today bsod because of windows problem, what was found by sfc… this is panopticon, i had problems with 1809, but so rare, and i guess 99% of them was when i looked for best overclock for cpu… but msfs required 1909 minimum, what forced me install this digital insanity 2004… i think instead legalize mj, microsoft legalize digital sadism

Hi,

Turning AI Traffic to Off helps me to aviod crashes so far …
Also my performance is very smooth around 50 FPS +
My GPU is mostly on 100 % and i have no more “Limited by Main Thread”

My other settings so far :

Text to Speech = Windows Offline
Rolling Cache = OFF
V-Sync = On ( Off in Nvidia Control Panel ! )

Windows Version is 2004 + latest Update

If you Overclock or adjust your GPU factory settings and have experienced CTDs, this may help you.
I had many CTDs without errors as many of you posted with my second rig for MFSF2020. Specs are:
i7-9700K
GTX 2070 Super
32 GB Corsair 3600 MHZ
2 1TB SSDs
Asus 390-A MoBo

I haven’t had CTDs and have tested round the clock for 2 weeks. Here’s what I learned:

MSFS2020 is intolerant to poor overclocking for CPU, Memory XMP and especially GPU adjustments. Poor overclocking method and adjusting GPU factory settings were culprits to frequent CTDs for me.

Use Prime 95 torture test (burn for minimum 24 hours) and memtest (min 8 hours) to detect hardware problems / instability. I found a 100% correlation between seeing errors in P95 and MSFS2020 CTD.

Tips for stable MSFS2020:

Step 1 Rule out Hardware issues / instability

Don’t use motherboard manufacturer recommended CPU overclocking. This was my biggest mistake. In the case of the Asus UEFI, the recommended OC was 44% but other settings I came to discover didn’t make sense. Voltage was too low, and other settings too aggressive. Highly unstable once you push the limit. Check temperatures at load. For testing, best to stay with default and up in small increments. Again use P95 to test stability. Error free is always the goal. Do your research and adjust on your own as different motherboard manufacturers have different tolerances.

Leave XMP memory setting only until the CPU OC is stable. Then add in XMP Profile. Remember, prior to using XMP profile, use memtest to check your memory sticks and make sure you don’t have any hardware issues. Then use P95 to test stability of your system again.

Leave GPU at stock clock. Can’t stress this enough. Use of MSI afterburner, Precision X, Adrenaline, etc to adjust anything is an invitation to CTD. This is a BUG in MSFS2020. If you’ve done this, I strongly recommend that you reset. Can’t use the same GPU performance software and select default. Didn’t work for me. Had to use DDU to completely uninstall gpu nvidia drivers, then uninstalled (in my case) Precision X, hard reboot, and then did a clean install of just the latest nvidia drivers. No manipulation whatsoever. Didn’t install Precision X anymore and don’t plan to until bug is fixed.

If you’ve done all that, and your Prime95 is error free, then in my opinion you have a really good chance you won’t run into CTD during gameplay.

Step 2. Software
Have the latest windows updates and drivers. At first I thought W10 2004 was problematic and I reverted back to 1909. But my issue wasn’t W10 related, it was using Asus’ recommended overclocking. So I went back to build 2004. I’m convinced W10 is contributing little to the problem, and merely reacting to unstable / defective hardware.

Now on the game settings itself. Use the default system recommended settings as the starting point. No matter how you feel about your system, if MSFS2020 categorizes your computer as “high end” and your ego is hurt because it didn’t say “Ultra” so be it, just accept it. Run the game, do your most gruesome flights, severe weather, long haul, etc or choose the most common scenarios that have caused CTDs before. Check if it still causes crashes. While doing that, use tools like NZXT and CPU Temp monitor software to monitor your computer’s performance. If GPU load is already like 90%, then you have little headroom to up the graphics settings. You’re pretty much at the limit of your hardware. Enjoy the game until you get better hardware. If you’re at 70% max and want to push the limit, start tweaking individual sliders rather than changing the category. Do it in incremental and constantly check GPU load. My GPU load was at 100% at one point, and started to run hot so I scaled back the settings. Ideally for me, around 90% load has not resulted in CTDs and has been stable.

Sorry for the long post. Good luck. Hope it helps a few out there. Like everything else mileage varies.

There is no way to makes this game run without a "normal"ctd,I tried everything, even underclocking my 2080ti and the cpu,i9900k,but still crash,no matter what.
The only time that I didn’t have a single ctd and everything worked perfectly was before the first patch…after the first patch…doom.
Anyway thanks God 19th November is near…after that msfs will be a memory…ahahahahahahah

don’t ignore sfc /scannow(sure you read this “nonsense” many time as i does) it really found something, and looks like more stable now

looks like this error connect to the mod for gs1000

Waiting for new update…run the game, if crashes, try it again, if crashes, look for new date release update and wait not opening the Sim again, I´m tired of CTD and plascebo effect, I won´t bend my computer to FS2020, I pay for this , Asobo, Microsoft, fix this ■■■■ thing!
