Creating new waypoints.....Have I done this correctly?

Hi
Flew EGPH-EGLL last night without ATC (Vatsim) until final. So flew the route to BNN, then the STAR from BNN, by creating 3 waypoints to get onto the 09L ILS. From the images below, have I done this correctly? If not, how would it be done in real life?

After BNN, the STAR directs me to fly 178 to BNN D5NM, then intercept the LAM R265 at LAM D30NM, then at LAM D34 turn 178 on the GWC R358. Then at GWC D39, turn to intercept the ILS.
But I ‘joined up’ the discontinuity between LAM D34 and GWC D39. This join gave me a heading of 178 from LAM D34, which is as per the STAR. All this is pictured below.

My questions are as follows:

  1. is this how I should do it?
  2. By deleting the discontinuity, I achieved a heading of 178 from the last waypoint (LAM D34). This to me seemed coincidental. It was the required heading, but it was this ‘joining up’ that created the heading. Is that right?

Would greatly appreciate any informed views…

I think I’ve just answered my own question…neglected to put in the transition (BNN)…all input automatically now…oh well. I did learn hown to put in waypoints!!!
