CTD after checking for updates

Try again now. I had the same error above. I gave them a crash dump analysis that showed them it was their issue a few weeks ago and they ran a script against all online profiles with the problem that fixed the issue for both me and a friend that had the same problem (I’m on MS Store, he’s on Steam).

Same here I’m om Xbox

I have the same problem. When checking for updates is over the next (loading) screen crashes to desktop. I have now found out, that after checking game files with the steam program, is recommended to load propperly when starting the game the next time.

The bad thing about checking the game files with steam program is, that you have to copy deleted folders back into the steam folder, because they get lost.

same Here crashes right after checking for updates. Logged out of Microsoft store and steam and logged back in without any luck. Also tried re-starting computer. Community folder and empty community folder still no luck. DEAD!

Hi

I can’t launch MSFS, it crashes on loading after checking for updates. I’m using a steam version. There’s no mods or anything of that kind of stuff. I haven’t changed any of my PC components, the OS hasn’t been updated too.

Here’s the screenshots that illustrate the issue:

Regardless of whatever loading option I choose here’s what I get next:

Then it crashes to desktop with no error messages.

Please help!

please check the windows event log … if the app crash, there is an entry logged.

Yes, here it is:

I also tried disabling internet and run the sim in offline mode. Tried to update my video drivers. Unfortunately, nothing of that helped, I’m still getting the exact same CTD :frowning:

Is there anything else I could try to fix MSFS?

the 0x80000003… hmmm…

I assume you have sufficent free disc space on main-drive ? ( e.g. so that pagefile can created ) If not, you must may be force a pagefile, but then we need more informations about your system.

Otherwise: have you checked the mentioned hints about reconnect in xbox app ( logout , restart windows, login ) and also check that you system time is correct set ?

Also clean the App-Data folder ( %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator → delete the SceneryIndex, SceneryCache, DCE, cache, ROLLINGCACHE.CCC ) is sometime helpfull.

If the problem comes from a setting file, its not sufficent to start without internet connection, because steam have a cache of the setting files within : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxuserid…\1250410* ) . You can disable in steam the cloud sync, backup the files from mentioned folderr, and remove the folder. Then try to start. Because it resets all, you can may be start with removal of the input_ files only.
A note, be carefully if you play around the files in that folder, there is also your logbook, if you care about. If you later enable cloud sync again, then Steam try to sync it with the cloud-files and ask you which version you want.

EDIT: and I forget to mention the usually things, like try to stop anti-virus solution ( if not defender ). If you had former google-maps-replacement installed then check and clean windows-hosts file, all that things…

I’ve deleted that folder completely and it helped! Now MSFS works for me just fine. Thank you so much for the solution!

I have been debugging this since Friday and I have a solution that worked based on what a moderator had said to someone else about a potential conflict. If I delete the nordic update (SU5), I can get past the load screen with no CTD. I have nothing in my community folder and plenty of disk space. The installing of that one pack causes me to not be able to get through the load screen without a CTD. In this video, I start with it uninstalled. I install it, suffer a crash at completion, suffer at CTD when I relaunch during load, and then I delete the relevant package files in the Official directory and voila it launches fine for me. This has worked time and again the past 2 days for me as I have tried to see if there is any other contributor. I have a bug reported here if you want to up-vote it and then try this for yourself.

(my bug report: CTD for 40th anniversary caused at load by Nordic Update (SU5))
