CTD after flying approximately 30 minutes

Is there anyways to fix it? Before all of the latest updates, I could finished my flights easily, but now I can’t even flight longer than 30 minutes. What is wrong with the game? I am using the lowest settings with approximately 20 FPS.

Since the latest update I often CTD or freeze after loading a flight and hitting the throttle. Nothing in my setup changed. Nothing in Community folder. Not doing anything differently.
I am very close to just giving up on this sim. For all its visual beauty, after nearly a year these major issues and bugs should not still be present.

True, game is supposed to perform better after updates but for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, is not improving at all.

I had one of my first CTD’s yesterday but I know I caused it. It was a long and boring flight with the A320NX and I began multitasking on the internet including downloading some files. Also I got lazy and had not rebooted my computer in ages so it was very likely memory was fragmented from all the stuff I’d done over the last few days. I later in the day ran the same flight after cleaning up my computer and had zero problems. Simmers should be aware that MSFS taxes your computer to the limits it can and one should always clean up the environment before launching the program and the flight sim should be your only resource hungry application you run. That may seem to be rather restrictive but we’re asking our home computers to perform a task that only a few short decades ago would have run barely on the biggest supercomputers. That’s not to say that there are not portions of code that have little bugs in them and Asobo will eventually pin them down and fix them but as a software designer for decades I can absolutely say that creating software that truly uses every resource of your computer and tries to squeeze out absolute speed, you will sometimes get mysterious crashes that are almost impossible to pin down. They will happen far less though if multitasking is not going on and the workstation is cleaned up and updated frequently.

Bugs and errors for such a complex game is maybe expected. But if it’s expected then it should also be expected that it improves over time. It’s not improving.

Besides that, my biggest problem is that the game CTD without catching the error. As a fellow programmer, I understand the need to have error checking code such that errors are caught before the CTD happens. Then you can popup a dialog to tell the user which part of the code is crashing and over time youo know where to target fixes. It should never crash without any warning to the user.

Maybe start with stating some details (you know, a proper bug report), like what aircraft you fly, which areas, what’s in your Community folder, your system specs etc.
If you want help, you need to provide some more information.

This has nothing to do with CTDs.

I started a flight with an A32NX using the Airasia livery at WBKK - Kota Kinabalu International Airport flying to WSSS - Singapore Changi Airport.

I spent around 20-30 minutes in setting up the plane and taken off, after like 5 minutes climbing at FL240, then the game just crashes.

For my community folder, I have some aircraft, liveries and sceneries installed. Everything in my community is working fine.

My specs are i5-8250U, 20GB DDR4 Rams, MX150 2GB Vrams. I know my specs aren’t the ideal specs of running the game, but before with all the updates, I could finished a 2 hours flight easily without a CTD.

Hope someone could help me with it! Thanks.

Well, that’s a statement you can’t prove. For instance the GNS530 mod caused random CTDs in more dense areas until a bug in the sim was identified and a workaround has been done in the last update of the addon.

Remove everything that you don’t necessarily need from the community folder and try it again.
Also for A32NX it’s important to know which version you use - stable, dev, experimental?

Not saying it’s necessarily the addons, but they are the easiest to reduce and see if CTDs still occur.

I was using the A32NX Development version. Okay I’ll try it out! Thanks for the suggestion.

For what its worth, had a CTD with the A32NX Development version yesterday. KDCA to KLGA flight. Delta skin, 4 season pack. CTD on approach into KLGA.

I tried removing everything from the community folder, leaving with the A32NX Development version, Airasia livery, WBKK scenery from flightsim.to, no handles bar from flightsim.to and sofly landing challenges. The game crashed while taxiing to runway 20 at WBKK.

Well that’s still some variables, why don’t you try to remove everything except the 320nx?
Also make sure your 320nx is up to date, a development version is per definition not necessarily “stable”.

It sure has improved for me and I believe a whole lot of other people on here. When I first began I could barely run it. Now it’s a real rarity when I find an issue, my flights are smooth and some of the sights I’ve seen have just dropped my jaw.

I think that many users of this software don’t have decades of flight sim experience. I began back in the basically wire frame days and if someone had told me back then we’d have essentially photo realism over pretty much the entire world today I’d have laughed in their face.

Was in the middle of an hour long flight in A32NX, literally sitting staring at the plane fly, poking my phone and BOOM, the game just closes and as always there is nothing useful in the Event Viewer. I’ve definitely been crashing more and more since the latest update. I could go for days without a single crash, yesterday I crashed 5 or 6 times until I finally managed to either spawn on the airport, or take off or let alone land.

Frustrating! The vast majority of my CTD’s happen while on approach for landing.

I tried. I removed everything from the community folder, updated the A32NX - Development Version to the latest version too, before taking off at WBKK, the sim just crashed.
