Exactly my feeling. Reading similar topics, it seems very likely that the issue is related to cloud data. It would explain why also XBox users are experiencing similar issues, a complete clean reinstall makes no difference and it is 100% replicatable and unavoidable.
No offence taken.
Yes, pressing the Start button and anywhere from the appearance of the Main Menu screen onwards and CTD.
I have left sim at the Main Menu, walked away and on return, CTD. Other times I would get as far as flight and CTD.
The identification of the issue IMHO needs testing, testing, as I am sure you are aware.
Good, you donāt have a GPU overheating issue, but, I did, and I dare say other may have, so checking as I have stated, will eliminate one possibility, as we all scratch our heads to have Support resolve issue that are within their control.
My final sentence did allude to other will find other solutions.
Difference with the problem weāre having is we canāt even GET to the main menu let alone let it run and walk away. That youāre having a cooling problem with your GPU causing your crash makes perfect sense. That would be an easy thing to track down for a lot of us.
My fans start to spool up as they normally would during the intro vid but as soon as I get to hitting the start button the sim stops responding and GPU load and of course the fans go to zero. Itās not even close to warm yet let alone hot. In short, ours is a different problem.
Iāve tried everything the zendesk has thrown at me. Even tried something I found in another post, a command line that clears the cloud saves. That took me to a clean start and had all the setup menus but as others have reported, as soon as I set up the avatar and click continue Iām right back at stuck. Right before the main menu again. Something aināt right. SU1 ran fine in the same exact config.
OP did you get this resolved? Still havenāt been able to play since SU2.
Hi all,
Trying to sort between cloud and local culprit, Iāve Installed MSFS 2024 on my old office work PC (I5 4590-16GB-GTX970) with the same account and I had access to the main menu after start button, No CTD!
With corrupted cloud saved data, I think both MSFS 2024 installs should have crashed.
Both machines have same windows 10 (22H2) version.
I installed the same Nvidia old driver version (560.94) as the āworking machineā on the faulty one.
No luck, CTD on start button.
Comparing both task managerās, I tried to kill the running processes witch are not present in the old machine with no success.
Donāt know what to doā¦
Is there a problem with AMD CPUās ?
Are you guys with ntdll.dll crash running Win 10, Win 11 ? Intel, AMD Cpu ?
Maybe a clean install of windows 10 is needed.
The old āNo CTDā PC Windows system was installed back in 2009 VS 2023 for the one with constant CTD.
SU1 was running perfect.
Hey thanks to 303_HOLY on the discord for finding this. If you are using XRNecksafer for VR⦠You have to disable the OpenXR layer for that. To do that, run the program, up at the top youāll see a button for OpenXR, disable the layer there. Once you do that you can get past the start button. At least it worked for me. Hopefully theyāll find a way we can use it again. Not as critical as in a combat Sim but still pretty nice on the neck!
Thank you for your input.
I have uninstalled openXR and not using this layer.
What weāre experiencing here is ntdll.dll crashes not openXR-loading, so maybe not relevant.
Thanks, this is helpful. I was going to do the same but I need to free a lot of disk space. I have an Intel CPU so I donāt think it is AMD-specific.
Could it be related to VR? I still have WMR on my Windows 11 23H2 system.
Could maybe be related. I have the exact same issue with getting a CTD on clicking start except event viewer is telling me the problem is with openxr_loader.dll. I donāt use XRNecksafer, at least that Iām aware of. Never even heard of it before.
Iām also still running 23H2 thanks to WMR. Iāve tried everything I can think of except updating past 23H2 so Iām really hoping thatās not the issue.
Hello everyone,
I had fskneeboard installed, and that was the issue. Uninstall the program, and make sure the Windows registry is clean as well:
Go to:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ApiLayers\Implicit
Delete the corresponding entry there!!
Best regards
Andreas
Thanks @Andreas677 that was it!
Even with a ndtll.dll crash, it was related to an openXR layer!
@Levener710 wrote about Ultraleap, and I had one installed.
Just uninstalled Ultraleap (leap motion) and voila!
I Checked in Regedit and I got no other API layers left.
Definitely check for Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ApiLayers
For those stuck to 23H2 because of WMR (Reverb G2?), mbucchia (openXR toolkit) is developing a driver for steam VR!
Hey folks,
Iāve just moved this to the User Support Hub > Crashes (CTDs) category from our Bug Reporting Hub as it seems this has been resolved externally from the base sim!
Thanks
The MSFS Team
So it was ultra leap? I have a ultraleap hand sensor on my pimax. Did just uninstalling ultraleapndo it for you?
Yes, just uninstall ultraleap.
No need to go in the registrer, uninstallation deletes the openXR layer causing msfs to crash.
At least for meā¦
My first thought when I saw this thread was, āThe GPU is shutting down.ā
My liquid-cooled 3090 Ti temp jumps from 40°C to 70°C almost immediately when I launch the sim.
But it seems like it was more about 3rd party addons.
It was ultraleap
I gave up on the MSFS2024 CTD fix try. I was getting CTD every flight on start up or shortly after takeoff. 4090 card and 13900K CPU. I did everything tofix it. even loaded SU3 Beta and downloaded entire scenery on my 2TB HD. No help, CTD every time. Something plagues some users and some people fly with never get a CTD. I feel there is some commonality for all of us plagued with a CTD and no one can figure it out. I sent me computer back to Jetline along with a 5090 card for $3000 and am having do a complete re-build and install of windows, MSFS2024. If that donāt work, I will simply give up on my favorite hobby.
