So if you CTD/freeze on a long flight, what do you do?
I had a crash 3 hours in to a 3:30 flight that otherwise went smoothly. I had toggled out of VR and then when I tried to toggle back in to VR I had a “freeze” more so than a CTD.
I took a screen shot of where I was, so I’m thinking of reloading the flight plan and adding a waypoint where I crashed. Luckily I had LNM open and it was by a GPS waypoint. I think there is a jump to option? Does the jump to account for fuel and time? I also was able to screen shot fuel and other data.
The sim crashes so much it could really use a recovery option like Office 365.
I’ve only had 2 CTD during flights but it was enough to put me in the habbit of saving every hour or so and then saving again when 20 minutes out from destination (as both of mine were on approach).
I’ve tested loading from save and there’s a few hiccups but mostly works.
While reading this post I had the 1st CTD I’ve had in at least 6 months. It happed while the picture of Sydney Harbor was up. By the way that’s a really bad screenshot. Blurry.
But everything appears to be fine now.
BTW, if anyone in Florida is in here, did you just see that Falcon 9 rocket fly by? First time I’ve seen one go overhead like that. I’m about to go fly the opposite direction now.
My first CTD in months occured Saturday about 2 ft above West Fargo runway after a 4hr flight. I’m going to pretend I got there. It was a strong crosswind and I’d found the center line nicely. Applied rudder to straighten up and got dreaded split second freeze before my desktop came into full view. Quite annoying.
Short flight from SBCT to SBJV using the default C208 and clean community folder just to test the new update… seconds before reaching the TOC, CTD.
I’ve been off for some weeks since the weather issues never get resolved.
When I finally try to give it a chance, have a CTD in the first flight. Just waste of time.
I’m paying for Orbx Volanta - one of the things included is state saving - it saves the full state of the sim every 10 minutes. I had a CTD last Saturday, and this feature saved my butt - once MSFS had loaded up again (which does take ages, as we know) all I had to do was select the most recent save, and I was back in business.
I hadn’t used it before this, and I must say I was impressed!
It’s not happened to me so much lately (touch wood) but when it has, I’ve just created a new flight, complete with flight plan, starting from where I left off.
I’ve also noticed that my hours are correctly logged in my “book”.
Ummm I did the same flight this morning in the Longitude, VR (quest 2) and no issues. Nice landing - but the ILS was a bit off. They did a nice job on the scenery.
I got pretty bad ocd when it comes to this I have to either start the flight all over or start at the nearest airport where it occurred. I would love to see a feature to start where you last landed in implemented . I’m a guy that just likes continuing where I landed . Can’t just spawn in anywhere and fly . But that’s just me . Cheers .
