CTD @ Dublin

So…I don’t know when it started happeming (after which update) but everytime I try to fly into Dublin or start a flight from Dublin, I get a CTD. Now, I have tried the few things I had read about trying. Those being empty the community folder, and unplug USB controllers. I have tried those things and I am still unable to fly to/from Dublin. Any other suggestions or anyone else experience this?

Hi @PlaneShover,
Have you tried deleting your Rolling Cache? You don’t need to turn it off, but delete what’s there to start a fresh copy.

Yes, tried that earlier.

How much RAM do you have?

Actually, rolling cache is turned off. Hmmm.

PC specs are Ryzen 9 3900, 11gb RTX2080ti, 64gb RAM

Hmm. Usually CTDs at airports can be caused by low RAM but you have double mine :joy:
I’d suggest setting your rolling cache to 16 or 32GB, since it’s already off at the moment.

Makes me wonder if it was ever on before. Once I land this current flight, I’ll give it a try and see what happens.

Having it off shouldn’t cause it to crash. I leave mine off at times too. Having it on and over time may get corrupt at times, that is why clearing that will “fix” that. So your problem isn’t Rolling Cache.

I’ll take a flight there in about 5 mins and see if I get anything. So you are taking off and you crash? What runway?

Unable to take off or land. I’ve tried starting at a gate and runway 28.

I spawned at 28L, took off, did a left traffic / downwind and landed back on 28L. I used Live Weather, no AI Traffic, Live Traffic. No problems. I don’t use any mods (payware or freeware) nor any Market Place items. Graphics are at Ultra. It actually was a nice flight! First time I’ve been there in the sim.

When your crash happens, what is the error showing in the Event Viewer?

How do I see the event viewer?

In the Windows 10 search box, type in Event Viewer and it will pull up in a list, select it to open it.

When you open it, open the Key “Windows Logs” > “Application”

EIDW right? I just flew a 28L circuit too, no problems.

Ok, weird. Earlier I had deleted my cache even though some say that doesn’t have anything to do with it. Loaded up the Pitts on 28L and took off and buzzed central Dublin before digging around for the earlier crash this morning in the event viewer. Found it and here is the screenshots of the two info pages from the CTD I guess. Thing is, the only variable that has changed is I DID delete the cache, still CTD and now it works. Could that possibly be because I needed a restart of the sim BEFORE I tried loading up EIDW and now on a reboot it loads up fine?

Yes it does. Always keep that in mind. :+1:

Going to load up the FBW A320 and try a flight up from LHR and see what happens on approach.

Well ■■■■. Back to the drawing board…short final on the 28L ILS and CTD.

It’s a good thing I wasn’t on that flight.

Does it do it using GA aircraft? Could be the airliner or the ILS (there’s some topics about that on here).

Test a GA aircraft by just good old hand flying a circuit. Then test it using the ILS in it. (Pick a GA with ILS).
