CTD during descent B747

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Brief description of the issue:
I’m having this consistent issue of the game freezing during my decent into PHNL (Honolulu international). I’m utilizing the Asobo 747. This freezing even happens during safe mode usually at the same time. I’ve noticed when plugging in the transition of ILS Y 04R ALANA, the game immediately freezes EVERY TIME. My game is up-to-date. I’ve flow in into this airport numerous of times with no issues and this problem has started after buying INBUILDS addon through the in-game marketplace. I’ve even uninstalled the addon and the problem still continues. Even running with the in SAFE MODE i still get this issue during decent immediately after the transition of ILS Y 04R ALANA has been plugged in. Any ideas?

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
I HAVE NOT moved my community folder but I HAVE ran the game in safe mode with the problem occurs at the same time immediately after plugging in the ILS 04R ALANA.

Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version (Learn how to find your current graphics card driver version):

I have played this game in safe mode with nothing in the community folder. I have also cleared out my “official” folder too with. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game with all moments the game has crashed and the SAME particular moment. The moment once again would be during my decent as soon as I get my orders from ATC of my runway and transition, the game freezes and eventually CTD

Hi @KeNnYtOpz ,
What does the “Resource-Exhaustion-Detector” error (immediately below the MSFS Application error & with the same timestamp) say?

[

I increased my virtual memory on the drive the game is allocated on BUT just realized It was “set” and never saved. So I just fixed that right now and will try again.

Yup - there’s your problem. MSFS ran out of memory & crashed.

I had this happen to me when I was using both my Intel Arc 770 GPU AND the onboard Integrated Graphics on my i7-12700K. The IG was set to use up to 16GB of my 32GB of onboard RAM. Over the course of a flight, both the IG and MSFS would consume more & more of the available free memory until it ran out.

Increasing the pagefile to 32GB made no difference - I had to stop using the IG and connect the TV using that port into a free port on the Arc 770. Problem solved.

wait i’m confused. So increasing my virtual memory on the specific drive where the game is on isn’t going to work? What do you mean by “IG”? I’m currently using a 3080ti with a 36gb of ram on a B650i with 7800x3D so you’re telling me to plug in my TV into my motherboard instead of my GPU?

Hi @KeNnYtOpz,

IG = Integrated Graphics Chip. The i7-12700K has a graphics chip that allows me to hook up two TVs or PC monitors via 1 HDMI & 1 Display Port (DP) on the motherboard, without needing an Nvidia, AMD or Intel GPU plugged into into the PCI-E slot.

I’m definitely not telling you to plug your TV into your motherboard instead of your GPU. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you have:

  • A CPU that has an on-board graphics chip (IG), and
  • A motherboard with HDMI and / or DP ports that the IG can use, and
  • A multi-monitor setup (either TVs or PC monitors), and
  • Have one or more TVs / monitors plugged into the HDMI and/or DP ports on the motherboard, and
  • Have one or more TVs / monitors plugged into the HDMI and/or DP ports on your GPU

Then your Resource-Exhaustion may be caused by the same issue I had, namely, MSFS & the IG competing for my motherboard’s 32 GB of RAM memory. The solution on my PC was to disable the IG from within the BIOS) and connect all my TVs (I have 3) to the HDMI & DP ports on my Arc 770 GPU.

My experience was that increasing the pagefile to 32GB (irrespective of the drive it was located on) made no difference if I had TVs connected to both the IG & Arc ports. Over the course of a flight, the available free memory dropped. When it reached zero, MSFS crashed, as reported here:

I had to stop using the IG and connect the TV using that port into a free port on the Arc 770. When I did that, in use, standby and free memory would fluctuate, but free memory would never reach zero. As a result, I’ve not had a CTD since then.

Thanks for the clarification and recommendations  I did everything as stated from your last post from going into the BIOS and disabling the Integrated Graphics to fixing my virtual memory pages. Unfortunately the game crashed again at the same location during the decent onto final… I still got the same response in my event viewer. The only difference this time was the game caused my whole computer to freeze up and crash giving me a different log after the “exhausted resources” login.

Similar issue reported around PHNL, not sure if at the same location where you are having your issue, but just in case, have a look:

My CTD is nearly everywhere. I did too have a CTD around Hawaii as well but mine is happening literally every other decent once I get my runway and transition from ATC and hit execute FREEZE. At this point I don’t know what else to do. Ran the came with nothing in the community folder, safe mode, reinstalled the game, disabled my integrated graphics card, update my drivers on GPU and computer, adjust my virtual memory pages accordingly, even got a new motherboard. This all started at the beginning of this year. Mind you i’ve had this game every since it came out and i’ve had NO issues. My computer build is more than enough with 32gb at 6000mHz, 3080Ti and 7800x3D. Only game I have issues with. Has to be an issue on MSFS end

Just curious, but which Inibuilds addon did you buy ?

Oh I believe I have a couple but let me boot up the game and get back to you

In the content manager I have the following in the screenshot PLUS (not in the picture up top) CITY UPDATE II: FRANCE AND CITY UPDATEIV: WESTERN EUROPE.

And your issue started after have installed which one of those ?, the Honolulu airport maybe ?. I am not saying that the culprit is one of those but just trying to narrow down the root cause.
Also are you getting the same issue with other aircraft than the B747 ?.

You know … it did start in Honolulu originally but eventually started happening at other places. After about 3 months it became spotty in Honolulu as opposed to being consistent. I honestly haven’t tried with any other plane as the 747 is only what I fly  I’ll try with another Boeing plane but uninstall the PHNL add-on.

i’m curious however, what lead you look at Inibuilds product

Just because you mentioned in your 1st post “this problem has started after buying INBUILDS addon”.

 honestly this problem has been going on for so long I still try to figure out when this exactly started so I can go back but I tend to forget i posted it in here.
