Premium version too No problems here. Downloaded the update. Restarted the computer went to content manager downloaded the updates on deluxe version .
Restarted the sim and everything works perfect. 
Theyâre the instructions. Iâm pretty sure they are there for a reason. You canât complain if you donât follow the instructions and it doesnât work.

@DestroyedBeauty No way to tell. Just test it. Thereâs always been issues with downloads and uptdates, I guess this team has little expertise on installation procedures, rather it knows more about 3D rendering and flight simulation

My game is also constantly crashing to desktop trying to do updates through content manager. Have renamed the community folder, restarted, tried in safe mode, still keeps crashing during the updates. Now itâs telling me that the Reno races and all the World Updates I installed arenât installed either, says Error 2 whatever that means.
Tells me there is a mandatory update, I click ok, the game closes and Microsoft store app opens and never downloads anything. I canât even manually search Microsoft flight simulator it wonât show any update to download
Make sure you click Library on the bottom left of the Microsoft Store, then click Get Updates or Check for Updates or whatever it said. I had to do that for it to find the first update.

Yeah, that was the easy part of the update for me. Iâve had the game crash like 6+ times now just trying to get the other updates downloaded, even in safe mode. I think this update messed something up.
This is a different issue than the OP posted about. If you go to your windows store and update all updates, (windows updates too) you might find that there has been an update to a windows module thatâs required for the game to work.
Also try signing out of the Xbox app and signing back in.
After that you need to empty or rename the community folder as per above.
By the way, I just did that small update to 1.21.18, but I donât have a game update, I already installed the Deluxe update past weekend, with other Content Manager stuff. Now, there are only two aircraft marked now, WU Germany and Eurofighter Typhoon. Letâs put them both⊠clickâŠ

the downloads in CM seem to hang the sim temporarily⊠but I cannot confirm a CTD. Iâts proceeding with the downloading now.
I found the library icon in Microsoft store and was able to update
I didnât have that problem. Re-loaded the sim and it all works great!
I forgot to empty community folder for the first time ever but I must have been lucky as it all installed fine, all mods ok but I use add on linker not that actually matters but started sim through that then the uploads went fine.
I feel for people who canât install vanilla getting CTDâs it seems itâs only affecting some folks
If it was me I would go with what someone else suggested and try to upload in safe mode

This was 100% third-party external add-on related for me.
I had this CTD twice - I unlinked all my freeware from the community folder, still had the CTD.
Renamed the folder entirely to exclude payware as well - 4th time lucky, content manager is now downloading fine.
Rename all folders except âOfficialâ in the Packages folder - this includes Community, IVAO, anything like that.

I was presented the exact same updates (including JU-52).
No CTD for me. Steam version, Premium Deluxe (or whatever it is called), default locations, Windows 10 20H1 (no 3rd party virus scanner, in case that matters).
UPDATE: I have not been a beta tester (in case that matters, too).
Happens to me too. I have three updates in Content Manager (two updates for Premium Deluxe and one update for Extra Light.) Even slecting the Extra Light alone causes instant CTD. Itâs a problem in the update process itself. Will try in Safe Mode shortly - which I suspect should work.
Same started happening to me. 
I have no community folder, started in Safe Mode, and managed to get through all the content manager updates except for Reno, the T6 and Unlimited updates.
Whatâs even more odd for me is that I flew for 4 hours (in VR) on Tuesday night, and then yesterday was going to fly an FSE flight and have had CTDs within 10-15 minutes of just getting the sim running. Whatâs bothersome, is nothing changed between Tuesday and Wednesday, except trying to use FSE.
