Just now I was asked for a small update (119 MB to download). Everything was looking fine until a CTD during the launching of the simulator. I launched again the simulator and again a CTD a few moments after the checking for update. I restarted the PC and again CTD.
Did you notice this problem ?

Same here… never had any CTD since at least 6 months and suddenly since this tiny update yesterday, I experienced 2 CTD without any error in Windows events logs… just did chkdsk, sfc, rebuid rolling cache, clear shaders cache but still the problem… disappointing 
Hello try to delete the content of these 2 folders (before starting the simulator)
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes
C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local\FlightSimulator
(Don’t worry, they will create themselves when you start the simulator)
I had two back to back CTDs as well after the update. On the third try, it fired up. I didn’t make any changes so I’m not sure why the third time was a charm.
same two CTD today, never had one for months, seems like caused by recent challenge update 
I will try uninstalling this activity since I m not really interested and may be the colrupt
It seems that deleting C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local\FlightSimulator solved the problem
Just did a 3h flight without CTD

Edit: New CTD occurred… still nothing in event viewer, no app crash id or something… weird
I always do it before entering the simulator and thank God I never have CTD.
By deleting that content, a new one is generated with what we are really going to use without storing old things that can cause us CTD.
After several hours trying to figure it out why those CTD, I finally found out that the responsible was reshade 5.9, also released 2 days ago. Reverting back to v5.8 solved the problem

After asking zendesk I applied the vanilla procedure and now everything is OK. At the moment no more CTD (for how long time ?).
What was probably the more efficient was the renaming of Community folder and the suppression of files in SceneryIndexes folder.

The update broke my system with the white dot making the mouse unusable when flying.
I had a few good weeks of flying, and it is now over. I suppose I have to wait until one day I start and it has gone.
This is just the worst piece of rubbish game I ever wasted my money on.
could it be track IR active ?
No track IR, VR and 2D it happens.
What happens is good one day, problems the next.
I know there are all sorts of lists, voodoo and urban myths proposed, endless YouTube videos, and I’ve been though them when things are running well and they have never made any difference to performance.
So I’m performance peaked. I even had DX12 and the latest NVIDIA drivers with no issues when others were having problems. Then start up the next day, and something is broken again.
It is endlessly fatiguing when those for random reasons have a good run, seem to think those with issues are idiots. There is also all these hoops to jump through everytime there is an update that for most just find out about when starting, are supposed to remove the community folder, update drivers and kill three chickens while facing north wearing the clothes of a person recently deceased.
It isn’t worth the effort to have a critical failure because an update appears with the need to check the calendar. I’ve had random updates no one else has, so who knows when they will appear.
So the endless posts and comments of issues from a large number of people are victims of a bad program designed by idiots.
I can reinstall for the third time in two months, reimage and try to block the updates, or just do something better.
No swearing here so insert the S, F and C words where appropriate.
We will try to analyze your answer.
If you watch youtube videos you will go crazy because each one says one thing.
What works for me may not work for you (we probably do not have the same PC)
As for DX12 (it’s in beta I don’t recommend it)
And if you have H.A.G.S. Activated or not, depending on which Nvidia driver you have, it will suit MSFS 2020 better or worse and with or without XMP activated.
What PSU do you have…?
How are your temperatures…?
The fact that everything works well for me and for you in this case does not mean that you are an idiot and I never said that.
I’m just saying we have to look at why all this is happening.
What you think MSFS 2020 is doing wrong may also be something you are doing wrong.
My configuration is the following.
all in ultra
DX11
TAA
my monitor is 60hz
So in MSFS I have V-Sync and limit frame rate to 50%
That means locked at 30fps
And I can assure you that I am enjoying smooth and stable flights.
PSU 1,000w
M.2 2Tb
32GB RAM
XMP enabled
H.A.G.S activated
and everything is going great
(What I always do before entering the simulator is to delete the SceneryIndex and FlightSimulator folder)
And if you change the Nvidia driver, remove D3DSCache, DXCache and the two existing Temp

Thanks for the effort of the long reply and genuine concern. I’m also very much cause and effect, and mechanism oriented. There is a reason for all things, laws of physics etc.
I have tried to help people as well, only for the next day for my system to be unplayable. So there are many who are the fallen. They gave up.
But no cause and effect with MSFS. Steam breaks it, SteamVR breaks it, every update breaks something. Extreme stuttering was the norm on and off. Now it is the mouse issue.
Brand new 13600k, 4070ti, running so cool there is no fan noise. As I said, it runs well, then doesn’t. I haven’t done anything.
No other program over last 30 years of PC gaming and multimedia is like this piece of rubbish.
I only hope and wish that you can solve your problem so that you can enjoy your flights. It may also be due to a recent Windows update. or for lack of any pending update. MSFS 2020 is a simulator with incredible potential. but I have to admit that its configuration is not easy at all for everything to work 100% activating or not activating something can vary greatly in your experience with the simulation. The first thing I did before starting to fly is to study the configuration from top to bottom. Once everything is understood, configure it for the best experience. Maximum possible realism and to this day I am enjoying the flights. and I would love for everyone who bought MSFS 2020 to be able to enjoy it to the fullest. Happy flights!!!
I have been experience CTD and black cocpit screens in almost all aircraft since the new update was installed. Can´t program any flight neither a short landing. This goes for the always reliabe Airbus A320 neo to the ATR, BA46, and all piston aircraft. Botton line, latest update seems to broke the game. If not, if is is a result of a bad configuration by m own, please let me know. Platform XBOX series X all console only loaded with MSFS.
I have not been able t fly for about a week now! It either crashes when I press FLY or if it loads it will crash during the flight, back to Windows.!! When are they going to fix this!! Cant not believe that they they so long after people complaining and it is not just in the USA but in Europe also. Come on Asobo. do somehting with your servers. Thank you!!!
