I keep getting CTD’s when on IFR decent in msfs-2024. I get assigned a runway and then the sound goes and then CTD to desktop.
This game really is unplayable!

When you are on descent, you are beginning to load in the destination airport and any associated traffic. This added load can push your CPU/RAM to full capacity if you already have other software and processes running concurrently with MSFS 2024.
The dev team is going through telemetry data on their end of things to determine how they can streamline any memory related issues. This will be an ongoing process throughout the life of MSFS 2024 as they continue to get feedback. On your side of things for now, I would advise you to just limit the amount of concurrent software / mods that you are using with MSFS 2024 if you are having crash issues.
No this is not a third party issue.. I have set it up so that ATC does not (but it does) deviate from flight plan. I then change the new runway and procedure using the EFB and shock.. the simulator cant handle it. The sound goes.. then back for a second and then CTD! I would believe you if i had third party apps. I have 32GB of Ram this isn’t being maxed out. The CPU is not pushed to capacity but the game.. that is beyond capacity of itself.
If you don’t get a change of runway by ATC then no issues at all!
Yes there’s definitely a ‘the sim is confused’ thing going on. I’ve had CTDs when it’s clear there are issues with the flight plan or runways or whatever. It’s hard to pin it down but one I had recently involved the destination airport disappearing from the flight plan for some reason. I manually entered it into the aircraft flight plan and headed there but the sim crashed on final. It might be a user error but it shouldn’t cause a CTD in a solid platform. The sim should be able to work around it or say that the FP isn’t valid, or something, Like I say, I haven’t pinned it down but it’s not hardware related.
I dont think as per the latest that this is a hardware issue!
