Out of the blue I am getting a CTD whilst the sim loads (happens even before the intro credits load) (community folder is empty)
Is there a way to fix this? Or should I do a fresh reinstall? If so what’s the best way, I’m on the Steam version

There is an option to repair MSFS in the APP Settings. Try that, it worked for me.
Thanks but which app settings? In steam or elsewhere?
I have the MS Store version.
I just use the search function in Windows, just type the word “flight” or if needed “microsoft flight” and the app settings become available.
You could also go to windows settings → Apps , find MSFS then click on MSFS - and click the (greyed out) advanced options.
I’ve found it, but I don’t have and advanced settings, just modified and it’s greyed out
See this article from the MSFS team:

Specific for you within the article:
DELETE STEAM CLOUD SAVE (STEAM VERSION)
If the crash happens upon loading:
Same here, few times on Chicago
Thanks I’ll give this a go
