CTD/Update loop

Hi!

After SU15, my sim keep crashing during unpackaging. I moved my community folder, checked sim files via steam, checked my RAM, and ensured all windows updates were performed.

Despite this, I am stuck in a loop at 60gb and at package 62. The sim goes CTD and restarts the download process with 60 gigs left.

Any ideas of how to solve this would be great.

Thanks!

If you have an antivirus temporarily disable it during the installation.

Hi @Vampir0104,
If disabling the ani-virus does not work, see the advice in this article:
How to install a new update safely – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)

I’ll do just that…

After starting the 128gb download from scratch…again.

I’ll report back either way in the next day or so.

Nope. This was not the cause. The installation hung at packet 66, then CTD.

…and we are back to the game wanting to download 128gb of stuff that I already have…again.

Next steps: Clean install, nuking all folders/addons. Then giving it another go…

Ok, I nuked every folder associated with FS2020, clean install, virus protection off, deleted common. CTD on unpacking, and I have returned to the 60gb loop.

Checked event log, and no event was recorded.

Same here! :worried:

So, I checked Location, proper time, I went in and adjusted virtual memory. Again, CTD. It seems to restart with FS-base-cgl-0.1.74.fspackage001.

I give up. I have done all that was suggested and what is recommended on every group. IF anyone has anything else…

Pretty clear that the update ruined the game. Worked perfectly for years, now this.
I’m pretty frustrated by this.
crashrpt_lang.txt (8.0 KB)

I was going to say, I would happily return to SU14 at this point. Seems like a file is bad in the Standard Content area. I hope it’s patched…

I tried again today, All protections off, Admin mode. FS2020 died at unpacking file 060.

…and I am right back to 58,50gb… Again. $/%&$!

No errors logged.

The only odd thing that happened was this:

The Anwendungsspezifisch permission settings do not grant Lokal Aktivierung permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}
and APPID
{15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

There is a saved game data in Steam that refused to be ininstalled. Could this be the issue?

Also something strange: I see no content.xml or much in the way of anything in my user file.

Any ideas?

Ok, I FINALLY got it to throw a code…

Application Error 0xc0000005 (Access Violation) error is usually caused by your computer not being able to correctly process the files and settings required to run a particular program or installation. Despite the error showing when you try and use particular pieces of software, it has many different causes including faulty RAM problems, permissions on folders, errors with the files of your PC and issues with the settings of your PC.

In this case, we suggest that you check for corrupted Windows system files. System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Windows that scans for corrupted Windows system files. If it finds a problem, it will try to replace the problematic system files from a cached version that’s on your PC.

To run System File Checker (SFC), follow these steps:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt, then select Run as administrator > Yes.
  2. At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the /). Scanning will take a few minutes.
  3. If SFC finds corrupted files and replaces them, restart your PC and check if the issue persists.

For more info about System File Checker, see Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thank you! Process started.

I’ll report back when done…

Soo, Short:

I did find/repaired corrupted files. No further issues reported.

FS2020 does not throw a report when it crashes. However, I did note in system logs that two things happen around the time the crashes occur:

General: Offline downlevel migration succeeded.

Could these be connected?

Ok, Again, program died at Package 66. No logs left behind, these two info logs popped up at the same time.

I went to clear cache files, but there were none. I cleared all DCE files, I did another scan for corrupt files (Again, none). There was also no content.xml to delete.

Antivirus is full off, and FS2020 is running under admin rights (checked under the exe)

So, where could the problem lie?

Could it be be possible that I am just getting a corrupt file from the server?

Again, I am back to 58.5 GB to go in the standard content.

Sooo, I checked my Official folder and saw that fs-base-cgl-0.1.75.fspackage.part66 was still there. All others were gone.

Next step is to watch the download and copy all the files for cgl-0.1.75, save them before it unpacks them all to hopefully save myself the downloading process.
