Uncheck - "Keep NVIDIA Control PAnel Global/Program Settings
Under Advanced Options check “Enable Safe Mode” and “Prevent downloads of drivers”. Close DDU.
Download NVIDIA driver version 572.16 for testing purposes.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/240547/
Run DDU and under “LAunch option” select Safe Mode.
Uninstall NVIDIA driver in Windows Safe Mode.
After the uninstallation and system restart, run the installer for driver 572.16. Install graphics driver and PhysX. Do not install NVIDIA HD Audio and NVIDIA app. After the installation is complete, restart PC.
Noticed the tick box against keeping old settings and although I only have power management set I re-ran DDU with that unticked. I normally go direct to safe mode so pretty much same process as your suggestion. Removed 577 and then reinstalled from scratch but got the same result.
Then followed your process exactly and installed 572.16 and this driver seems fine!
So what do we conclude, although I (and most other people) had thought 577 was ok if no Nvidia app is installed, there is something deeper in there that I have managed to reveal with my reverting antics. Not sure what if anything 572 is missing compared to 577 but I will continue with this for now. Of course none of this would have been an issue if the newer drivers worked with Dx11 and I know you have been a superb champion of trying to get this recognised and fixed, bravo. Lets hope we see it soon.
In the mean time I would like to thank you for you extreme patience and willingness to give time in support to people like me and many others. Have a great day.
Cheers
We can’t be sure whether this issue is caused by Microsoft, specifically Windows, Asobo, or Nvidia, and I still stand by that. I don’t have access to the data that Asobo has, so it’s hard to point the finger.
If installing driver version 572.16 helped, please mark my suggestion as the solution - it could help others with a similar issue.
P.S. If it hadn’t worked, I would have recommended turning off HAGS in Windows settings, but luckily the older driver did the trick.
You’re very welcome mate, fly safe.

Thank you very much for your help @TenPatrol . I haven’t made any progress for days. This fix solved both the dxgi hung error and the sudden ctd without an error message on startup. Strangely, I had no problems with dx 12, just a few performance-related issues. The problems started with dx 11…

Hello @theoldtannery and @TenPatrol, So i came across this thread after a long search of finding a solution for all this. The issue is pretty much similar for me. I used to use DX12 and TAA before and it used to work but with very poor fps, and whenever i used to switch to DX11 the sim used to crash at the start up. Later i figured out the solution for it which was basically turning off Hardware accelerated gpu schedulling in display - graphics settings.
After that i managed to turn on the DX11 and make the sim work out. After that i had some camera related issues in my laptop so i went to troubleshoot that issue and upgraded the drivers which solved the camera issue. But then after that i started having issues with my sim saying “Your graphics device has encountered a problem and the application will exit” when using DX11 with nvidia dlss super resolution. Then after that i started looking for solutions and then deleted the upgraded driver using DDU and reinstalled older version of driver with all the correct steps. But still it kept on going so i switched back to TAA and now it seems to be fixed.
But i want to use DX11 with nvidia dlss super resolution. I read you thread and saw i should be deleting driver again using DDU and doing a clean install of version 572.16. Will this allow me to use DX11 with nvidia dlss super resolution? Will the issue be fixed? I currently downgraded to 581.57
Install 572.16 without NVIDIA app.
Sorry i’m a potato in all this. I want to know if it will cause any issues to my laptop by rolling back to way older driver? I think the current version is 581.80 and i rolled back to just one version before that is 581.57. Will rolling back to 572.16 cause other issues like with my camera that was happening before i updated the driver to latest? It did not cause any issues yet when i rolled back to 581.57 but i wanna know if it will if i install even older versions like 572.16.
Btw my laptop is LOQ 15IRX9, windows 11, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU - 6GB, Intel Core i5-13450HX, 13th Gen, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
I dont know mate. Try …
Also, Try 466.14 - latest stable.
Okay thank you, I will try

The issue is still there with 572.16
I dont think so going back to 466.14 is a good idea as its way too old
I did. I installed without nvidia app and before that i deleted the app aswell
Restart your computer after making those changes.
