Change in peripheral status inflight = CTD.
A powered hub will not solve the issue other than help make management easier. But what it will do is ensure your peripherals are getting enough juice. Honeycomb are even launching their own powered hub to address the needs of flight simmers.
I run the saitek panels and I found that even with then running through a powered hub, voltage fluctuations were causing CTDs. I resolved this by using SPAD.next drivers instead of the Logitech plugin as amongst other things it will change the power settings for the usb port/device. You can also do this through Device Management in Windows manually without needing to buy SPAD.
