CTD when using Asobo Pilatus PC-6

 Thank you using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Brief description of the issue:

CTD after flight loading when using any variation of the Pilatus

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Remove the Community folder content
Start the game
Select any airport
Select a Pilatus
Launch the flight
When the flight is loaded move the mouse in freeview for a few seconds (that may be more but never less than a minute) to get the CTD. Alternatively, using the drone leads to the same result.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

Core i7 10700K (overclocked to 4.9 GHz) / MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk / 32Go RAM / MSI GTX 1070 / Saitek X52 + paddle / DX11

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

I did the last 2 updates in a row on april, 2nd. Before, no issue (but I am not sure I tried the Pilatus), after => CTD when using the Pilatus.
Tried to launch the game in “safe” mode => same issue
Tried to totally reinstall the game => same issue
The game also seems more sensitive to peripherals connected when it’s launched : I got a crash when starting my VR while the game was loading a flight. I did exactly the same flight with the VR started before FS, and no issue.

to be sure: did you made a OC or did you only mention a assumed spec of your cpu ?

I just wonder because your cpu is a 3.8Ghz CPU with turbo to 5.0/5.1

In case you did some OC, can you recheck without the OC ?
In special if the CTD happens in “Safe” mode too.

Since this is specific to a third-party aircraft, please report it to the manufacturer for initial triage.

I used the pre-defined overclocking in the motherboard to match my memory. It may be 5.0 or 5.1 but metrics show 4.9 most of the time.
The CDT also happens with safe mode.

I didn’t know the Pilatus was third party… as it is included by default in the game, I thought it was supported by the developer.

@CasualClick , could you please move my post into the “Aircraft systems” section ?

Ah, I forget now that the PC-6 is is part of GOTY. If this is the Asobo one, you’re correct. Let’s edit your title to be clearer since we have MilViz and another one coming. I’ll move it the thread in the meantime.

thanks… Thus its not overclocking  A cpu have a base frequency and different kind of turbo frequencies ( there are rules for the conditions and limitations e.g. how many cores can reach the turbo frequency, and on ) and thats may be what you see.

it would be intressting if that only happens on the PC-6 , because I remember similar posts where users report a crash while e.g. panning ( in cockpit / droine / freeview )
example :
drone Crash during view panning in cockpit
camera (a320n) CTD when I move my outboard camera

and another one:

…the app is randomly crashing after a few seconds up to a few minutes when looking around…

are you using DX12 in MSFS ? if yes , set to DX11 and try again.

also in other topic comes again HAGS setting on top… have you enabled it ?

No DX11, as said in my descfription.

Yes it is enabled (probably by default, I don’t remember changing it). Should it be off ?
Under this option, I have a specific setting “High performances” for MS2020.

ah… sorry, was a bit unspecific. Yes, please do a test with disabled HAGS.

PS.: in Win10 it is default Off, in Win11 it is default On.

I should have set it on some time ago ; don’t remember doing this.
The fact is that with this option (HAGS) off, there is no more CTD.

I’ll keep this topic alive for a few days to check it’s definitely OK.

Thanks to everybody for the support and ideas !

thank for reporting back… then it sound like the same issue as fomer linked, and where also disabling HAGS was helpfull.
