I’ve wondered about that. Maybe more variety in Black shark buildings + a handful of important POIs in each city could be better (or at least easier to develop) than full photogrammetry. The one problem I can think of is that Open Street Map data can be a letdown in some places.

There’s a video in one of the Discovery series, Black Shark doesn’t rely solely on Open Street Map, they use satellite imagery + AI to place the buildings, in the correct positions, correct architecture and correct roof.
Generally they do a pretty good job, but in my neighborhood a lot of apartment buildings are represented as houses or just not there at all. OSD building footprint data is rather lacking, so I thought that’s the problem.
The AI can’t accurately “guess” the height of the buildings based on the satellite imagery, so it needs the data for it. What I think they do is: when Microsoft doesn’t have height info for the area, they just place a random building.
For the places the AI didn’t place any building at all: it’s probably a failure to scan the imagery right (the AI couldn’t “see” any building). It’s a work in progress, but it’s definitely the best representation of the World I’ve seen so far.
It’s better than Google Earth, in my opinion, because Google doesn’t improve on places outside the photogrammetric areas, they don’t use AI to place buildings (it’s just flat imagery), they don’t color correct the imagery, they don’t correct places with clouds etc.

Yhh PG is not something you want when low flying or using helicopters to land on rooftops.
My guess is that its just a matter of time when such technology will produce state of the art 3D model of the world.
My only wish for the AI is more accurate buildings height. Maybe combine few data sources according to the best one per the region.

Hopefully it’s cloud or climate update! Jorge had mentioned that they will have a great weather system that will be a big surprise (no one has had before)! So hopefully this is it and it’s good.

It works quite well indeed. But it has several main errors that are reproduced worldwide:

When there´s a factory chimney and the aerial image includes its proyected shadow that´s understood as a skyscraper and AI places those black monolits instead of a chimney

Tanks in refineries or chemical plants are always displayed as circular buildings with windows.

Trucks and trains are understood as huts and you quite frequently find those small buildings in roads and tracks.
They need to correlate data as well to know if area is a road, an urban one, a industry or a factory, sea port, etc, and then place the proper buildings type there.

I think this is the most likely answer - Console Update 1 - a DLC that allows the xBox to handle WASM code…possibly requiring follow on versions or fixes (CU2, CU3, etc…) as MS and 3PD’s add more realism details to the aircraft -

I think Console Update would make the most sense.
I didn’t at first think City Update since it would be a downgrade from World to City.
probably the best news the xBoxers could have hoped for since MSFS began, good for the community too as it will potentially open a floodgate of further development from 3PD’s
…at the risk of getting a little ahead of ourselves…I still believe this is what CU must be
Actually i think console update is probably the last thing that would ever happen. Probably just before an asteroid apocalypse.
Just imagine the PC master races out rage and distgust that the consoles should start to catch up with them.
No one would buy MS products ever again.

and I thought I was the cynical one… lol
In the Q&A though when Jorg was talking about WASM for xBox he said they thought about adding it to SU10 - that it would be available as DLC for xBox users only - that some newbie Xbox users wouldn’t know what it was for and would find it ‘confusing’ - that it would possibly require its own ‘explainer video’ - and that they would therefor push it off to SU11 or…he sort of left that kind of dangling.
I got the impression that there was a lot of discussion on their end about how big a deal this is - even as he was saying it was a really big deal to have WASM for xBox.
It would massively open up the options for 3pd but it would also open up the secure network that xbox provides. At min MS are responsible for customers “saftey,” opening up to web assembled programmed add ons would mean they either have to hand that to the user or hugely invest in protecting said network from vulnerabilities
