Custom camera views are not absolute reference points

I searched and found a number of posts regarding unwanted zoom when using the NumPad to load a saved custom view. My issue is different, and I didn’t see it directly addressed in any other threads.

Let’s say I have a pilot view saved to NumPad 1, and a view of the instrument panel saved to NumPad 5. I can switch between those two views just fine.

But if I use freelook to rotate the NumPad 5 instrument view to the right or left, the view remains rotated when I load the saved pilot view using NumPad 1. I have to use freelook to try to get it back to the view I saved. IMO a saved view should snap back to a particular point in space, with a particular view along the X-Y-Z axes. It seems that saved views return the camera to the point in space, but if freelook is used, they don’t return to the saved X-Y-Z view angle.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?
