I have created a VMR file for personal use and want to share it here with the community.
airlines.vmr will try to match aircrafts and liveries during online flight on VATSIM using the vPilot Client.
This vmr is using the known X-CSL Models that come with IVAO’s Altitude client if a MSFS match cannot be done
You now can see even aircraft types that are not yet available in MSFS (A319, B777, etc…).
defaults.vmr will catch all aircraft types that had no suitable MSFS or livery counterpart. You will get then
the house livery from Boeing or Airbus for the specific aircraft. Also, i have added some GA planes that
would not match correctly in vPilot by using asobo’s generic models. E.g.: The Carenado M20 will now be shown as
a “Generic Piston” aircraft, a Quest Kodiak will be shown as a C208 Caravan etc …
I will try to keep this up to date and do changes if needed. Just let me know if you miss something
P.S.: This package can be used also as fallback if you are using the VMR file from “BritishAvgeeks” below, which is using the Livery Mega Pack Liveries (check README)
Feedback and Suggestions are welcomed and i hope you like it! Lets hope in future there will be a more beautiful and native solution available.
Hi Friends. Thanks for this mod. It is working for me generally. I would like to ask a question which you may sorted out already.
On Vatsim, I see these planes as models but ı also still see the MSFS Generic Twin Engine Defaults in the airports. How can I get rid of those ? ( As it is still and mandatory to select “Generic Twin Asobo” in the settings of Vpilot - MSFS Model Matching )
there is no real solution for that … all models that you still see as “generic twin” (as set in vpilot default model) … are planes that were not matched. If you want to help me, you can give me the aircraft ICAO of the planes that do not match, and i will try to find a more suitable model (if exists).
Some exceptions will never fulfill the needs 100%. For example there is no plane on MSFS or xCSL that is similar to a MD80 to match it.
I downloaded and installed the models from Altitude and I find that certain models like A340 or A 320 float above the ground at a certain distance that could be 2 or 3 meters.
It also happens with some boeings but at a much less distance.
It is particularly visible in the case of the A340.
I don’t know if it is something related to the contact points???
This is awesome!
However I saw that IVAO has models for alot of airlines however your model matching file has very limited. Can we simply extend your vmr file to add missing IVAO liveries as well?
e.g. PIA B77W is in IVAO liveries but not in your vmr.
sure, just let me know what to add and i can update it … I did it initially for some of the most known airlines and waited for some reply / suggestion until i enhance it
I am gettign a model matching error which points to the Generic Airliner Twin Engines Asobo 00 being the issue - I wonder if my one has somehow been corrupted - is there a way of changing this over to reflect the A320 instead by putting the “title” in from the aircraft.cfg?
Just got these two in vpilot just now at EDDL
Failed to create aircraft SWR1009 using model “Airbus A320 Neo Swiss Air”. The model may be corrupt or missing. vPilot will try to create the aircraft with a different model.
[22:45:38] Failed to create aircraft DAL1627 using model “Airbus A320 Neo DELTA AIR LINES”. The model may be corrupt or missing. vPilot will try to create the aircraft with a different model.
@gazpodel those error look like they are coming from a different VMR. I dont reference any models from the Mega Pack. Only the xCSL ones … but one of the videos above explains how to install multiple ones … for the other you need the Mega Pack actually
@mrmercury9647 thanks - yes I was trying to use britishavgeeks one as the fallback - I cannot seem to get anything other than airbus aircraft installed - my community file appears in my G Drive, but I found another one located in my C Drive - where do I put the ivao CSL’s - in both maybe?
