Customer MUST have a choice to implement a patch or not

After the third desaster patch - planes operate worse as before or got still unflyable, insane AP control, forced to start map view before departure otherwise CTD and and and…I demand a choice at the startup screen, if I want to implement a patch or not…at the moment and after the experiance of three patches it is better to stop implementing new patches automatically and wait if there is an improvement noticeable, watching the reactions in this forum or others.

This just bricked my whole world tour…

It has something to do with the ai control aircraft thing (that I never use). I complete made all systems malfunction just by activating and deactivating again.

Or perhaps more specifically, be able to roll back to previous? I assume you would want test the new patch before deciding. Anyway, if it is technically possible, I agree.

Agree with this!

Or roll back to prevoius version

This is not possible with any multiplayer/live experience like this.

Every online users need to run the same version of the program

Yes we should never be forced to update. Ever. Every patch there has been something seriously wrong with it.

I never really thought about it, if you have a bunch of third party aircraft don’t you have now the potential to lose them all with each update? That’d be my main issue with it being forced is that now the addon I paid for is unusable until a third party updates theirs.
Unless they have a way to prevent this…

that’s impossible with a game that is basically a client/server live streaming setup. The other option is releasing reliable patches.

This, or open a test server

I’m stuck in a download loop with the “bigfiles” still 6GB to go on the patch, tried the official “suggestions” and nothing, really f@*king annoying

Are you testing your builds before releasing them ?? Even the weather update with the lighting is a mess… Really disapointed, a shame

In their own words, Remember the forums are not the official platform for bug tracking . It’s best to raise this idea with the Zendesk. It’s a good idea, and could be a win/win for them.

As this game was designed, it is a “online” game [Simulator], and thus, anytime they [Asobo] make a patch update to the server, all clients (that’s ‘us’), must receive the necessary updates.

This is no longer a single player game that you can go into online mode if that is something you want to get into, it’s a online game that allows you to play in a single player sandbox if you want. A ‘single player’ game with a lot of online tentacles squirming about.

Proper third party addons provide all in their package and should not break.
What we currently have are models of aircraft that simply re-use the broken/incomplete avionics (mostly the G1000) for a premium price and these of course suffer from whatever is done with the base game.
Mods that base on default aircraft will always potentially break, that’s the nature of mods. But they’ll be fixed as well.

Also there will come a time where we hopefully have a quite stable and almost bug-free base game with default aircraft, so that the fixes will less likely have broad and breaking impact.

The main issue the Sim has is that it was released far too early. At this point it’s just an unreliable and incomplete platform to build highly sophisticated addons for.
But that will change, it just takes time to steer the boat out of the storm.

And I’m saying this knowing too well and suffering a lot from the game breaking bugs introduced with each patch. I just trust the product to be properly improved when patches will have more time to be tested for less regressions.

Not true. multiplayers can be connected via SIMBRIEF and/or SIMCONNECT - both interfaces are available and used by third party addons…if it is true, that Asobo uses the same SDK like all others, than they could also use the same mechanisms like all others…

It’s not about the multiplayer aircraft but about the world scenery streaming and other cloud features in the sim.
If the server tells your MSFS to show a new model of a house in Japan at a certain position, but your Sim is not updated and thus doesn’t know this model (or texture), how do you expect your Sim to continue working with that conflict?

Agreed, as MSFS operates on both your PC and with external data sources, both have to be kept in sync. Otherwise you just cause different problems if everyone doesn’t update at the same time.

The only way Microsoft could allow postponed updates, would be to permanently disable all online services on your local MSFS installation, until you do the update. That way any changes made outside your local MSFS would not impact it. But I can’t see that being anything anyone would want.

Well, they basically could have the old version on the server running for the old clients and a new version for the new clients. It would certainly need a LOT of duplicate data and multiplayer would work only for clients on the same version.

It’s technically possible, like other MMO games do with a “public test server”, but in case of MSFS it would be extremely complex.

I for one would be happy if they do smaller releases but with higher frequency, each patch first focusing on fixing issues introduced in the last one (if any) prior fixing other issues prior implementing new features/scenery.

Agile software development and continuous delivery is very forgiving in terms of introducing bugs as long as you are able to fix them in a very short time.
Most people would be more relaxed with new issues if they’d see them being recognized by Asobo transparently and knowing that they’ll hotfix them in a fews days (max) rather than knowing that they will (maybe) be resolved in the next patch which will take 2-3 weeks.

See, the issue with the self-turning knobs and switches has been introduced 2 weeks ago, the community narrowed it down rather quickly to the multiplayer/AI aircraft models. But there is NO fix and NO mention on the known issues list. This is just ridiculous since it’s game breaking on most of the aircraft.

Yeah but if they did that the forums would be loaded with people whining that they are only getting autogen’d scenery. It’s a lose / lose situation for them. Can’t please everybody.
