on the DA 40NG when I click AP to activate the autopilot it does not turn on. it just stays off can someone help me please?
Did you also activate the Heading button? Clicking ‘only’ the AP will do nothing. So click AP first and then the Heading button. You will also need to set the altitude by clicking the Altitude button after having selected and set the desired Altitude.

yes I know that, when I click AP it does not show AP in the PFD in the upper menu section or whatever its called
so it seems to not work when I start the engine manually but when I spawn in on a runway with the engine already started it seems to turn on just fine
well I figured the problem out, avionics master was off the whole time lol

Well done. So many little switches… I flew two hours with Landing and Taxi lights on. My grief with the DA40NG… switches are not very well defined…meaning…it takes eagles-eyes to discern if they are on or off.
Of course, a proper Checklist will help a lot. So I made one for myself.
