FS2020 is looking good and all, but I find it a bit strange.
What happend to “as real as it gets”?
The G1000 modells are so bad, you can´t delete waypoints for starter, you can´t plan your ToD to put in your altituds in the G1000.
When you align the headingbug, it´s still offsets.
I started flying the G36, but it lacked so bad in the performace so I just stoped it.
Now I fly the Da62, better… but what about it´s range? Your are supposed to get about 800-1200 nm depending on the power setting. I having a hard time to get to 500-600 Nm on 60%.
Figure I´m not the only one that planing to go back to Xplane11 at this stage, Microsoft has some way to go.
Graphics are good tho.
WHY dosen´t the ILS frequencys show up in the approache menu? (Do I need Navigraph for that?)
WHY can´t you plan a new flight (from world map menu) when you´r in the plane?
WHY cant you change from Imperial to Metrics? (C´mon US… )
Flightlevels start at FL180, In the US. In europe it starts at around 5000ft or so… so you don´t need to change the pressure setting ever so often. A option for that would be great to.
Don´t miss understand me, the game is good… but it´s just a GAME, not a simulator.

The DA-62 total cruise fuel flow has been assigned to both engines, essentially resulting in double the fuel flow. You can adjust the fuel flow scalar in the engine.cfg file to correct it. It would take a dev 15min to google these numbers and adjust the fuel flow and another 15min to test but why no one in the team does this is beyond me.

Thx, I will look that up.
I did some changes to the G36 to, but It was to much so I figure the team has to fix that.
TBH, you shoulden´t need to tweek basics things like this.
Fuel flow scalar = 1 is what I can find in the engine.cfg page.
Should I change it to two?
Are you using the Aux tanks switches (not fuel pump)? There is an additional 18 gal that can be used - this is not automatic. The Aux tanks are used to feed the main tanks, so you press the aux fuel tanks switch in the middle console to move the fuel to the main tanks.
So it is as real as it gets. If you don’t read the POH for your aircraft you will get yourself killed.

Ive been using Aux tanks at around 40% on main fuel tanks, seems to work ok.
Aircraft endurance is pretty great when cruising at 14000ft on 65% power.
Make sure not to have the aux fuel pumps on during your cruise. It almost doubles the fuel flow for whatever reason. Even with out them the range is still cut short.
Ignoring the bugged engine fuel pumps, I’m not seeing anything terribly aberrant about DA62’s fuel consumption. I just tested a takeoff, cruise climb to 12000 from an airport at 3500 (this took bit short of 3 gallons total, bit more than expected but I did it by hand and wasn’t at exactly 93 knots) with 4285 pound plane at ISA +10 (temperature per Garmin). I then engaged heading and level autopilot, reduced power to 67% on the in-game throttle corresponding to 5.9 gallons/h per engine and took two 15 minute timesnaps. Checking the fuel consumption on Garmin vs. one on the fuel menu from the top panel, the indicated consumption on Garmin seemed to be correct. This power setting did produce slightly less KTAS than the manual indicated though (156 FS2020 vs 160 on manual) as did the 59% 4.9 gallon/h setting (142 vs 148) I tried immediately afterwards. Though on the other hand some power settings (e.g. 15.7 gallon/h power at FL180) are faster than the real speeds.
So here is the problem. According to the manufacturer, at 12000ft and 60% throttle you should be getting a total fuel flow of 11.8 gal/h
In the sim you get 26.4 gal/h (13.2 x 2)
So changing the fuel_flow_scalar to 0.45 gives you the cruise fuel flow as per the manufacturer specs. This is probably not the best way to do it but it will result in more accurate fuel flow.
FF_scalar at 0.45

Your engine fuel pumps are on. These are the toggles to right and left of the respective engine master switches. Having them on more than doubles your fuel flow, which is surely a bug. Turn them off to get normal fuel flow. Note that even on the real plane you aren’t supposed to have them on all the time, normally only during takeoff and landing.

Well what do you know! Excellent pickup there mate. Is there a way to change that in one of the CFG files?
No idea, sorry. The most complex thing I have tried modding for is killing the co-pilot graphic on Savage Cub.
Hi.
I see a lot of fuelpumps and AUX pump.
Everything off and I get a range of about 400 Nm or so.
I did change the Fuel scalar to 0.5 instead. Gets my fuel flow down to around 7 Gph total (to low I know) but It gets my range up anyhow so I can do 7 - 800Nm flights with reservs.
When you say “everything off” do you mean that you kept your aux tank fuel pumps (switches on the armrest behind fuel selector) off the entire time? You are definitely going to get less range if so, because two fifths of your usable fuel is there. Do use the aux tank pumps, they don’t seem bugged.
The bugged pumps are the ones in the switch panel under the PFD labelled “LH Fuel Pumps” and “RH Fuel Pumps”.
As for range practically achievable in the game, I flew VFR from EFHF in Helsinki to EKRN in Bornholm in real time over the weekend. That’s about 500nm and I set off with tanks about 2/3 full and didn’t go most economical with altitude and speed.

Hi there.
Yeah, I have all pumps off.
I will try to have the AUX pumps on next time I fly the DA62.
But I did change the FF in the engine.cfg file to .6 and I get a range of about 1000nm now.
However - I wounder If it´s the same thing in DA40 NG (haven´t flown any of them IRL).
Flew from my home airport in Sweden to Tallin EETN, a distans of about 400Nm… I made it but I was to say… fuel critical on the approach to Tallin.
AnimalBrrom4108,
How are you able to edit the fuel_scalar? I have the Deluxe version and for the life of me I cannot find the engine.cfg or aircraft.cfg.
John
Hi there.
It´s not easy and it´s hard to show.
But my way looks like this C:\MSFS2020\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-da62\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_DA62
Then engines.cfg (open in word pad… ) and you find it.
I’m surprised you even can move the DA62 from the ground. In my case when tanks are full just to move the plane you need about 50% power and takeoff power the plane barely accelerates.
