The prop stops quite fast IRL. The difference is the prop may swing slightly when stopped, if that makes sense. Overall it is decent in the sim.
Ok, so after downloading this today, and then reading through pretty much this entire thread (phew!) I have have some questions, the first is what Szepy2235 said here:
Can someone ELI5 whatâs going on when we adjust the prop level on the throttle?
For my second question: what does the âDEC FUELâ, âINC FUELâ and âRST FUELâ buttons do in the fuel page? Are they at all related to whatâs going on with the Prop slider on my throttle?
Thanks!
First to the core functionality of the game.
The game only processes changes.
Say you have a 3 position flap lever on your stick. You can tell the game 100 times a second that the flaps are at position 0. The game is not going to process those 100 flap 0 commands.
Then say you use your F7 key to set flaps 2. Your physical switch is still at flaps 0. It hasnât changed, so itâs ignored.
You then select flaps 1 on your stick (an increase) but the flaps move up.
So, for the prop axis.
First of all, by default the prop axis is disabled on the 62 and40. that basically locks the props at 2300 rpm, because Asobo.
Ive unlocked the prop axis so that the âFADECâ (Propcontrol logic) can change the RPM based on power.
The prop control script sends 30 updates every second per side. Because of rounding errors and tiny oscillations, the set RPM is constantly being updated, not by much (maybe half a RPM or less)
So, if you are cruising and the prop controller is set to 2100 rpm, and you slowly move your prop lever to 0% prop rpm. It sends 100 updates a second on its position, and these are all chnages. These are all processed, but so is the prop controller. The prop controller is fighting your Axis changes.
The output is all over the place. One frame is set to 2100 rpm, the next 500.
Just like my ex, she cant make up her mind. Only after you leave it alone does logic kick in and everything becomes normal again.
Unless you dont buy her things because you are broke.
Like me. I have an old Saitek x52 where the potentiometers are not, good, in any way. My all my axes jitter and constantly send changes of ±2%. The end stops seem to be stable, no jitter there. That i why i recommend you set your Prop axis to full forward or all the way back.
Sometimes the end stops are not stable by me either lol. I cant do a runup because because my Throttle is jumping up and down all the time
The softkeys on the Fuel screen are for the fuel totaliser. They are just eyecandy atm, they dont do anything.
Because of the inaccuracy of the fuel gauges IRL, you would measure your tanks with a dipstick, or that horrible contraption on the diamonds, during your preflight.
Say you measure a total of 30 gallons. After startup you would input 30 gal into the fuel totaliser using the âResetâ, âIncreaseâ and Decrease" keys.
With the fuel flow sensor, fuel consumption is measured, added up and subtracted from the total fuel. that you input.
At the moment, the fuel totaliser simply shows the fuel quantity, as it is 100% accurate in the sim.
I am already using the fuel flows to calculate fuel used, and making a fuel totaliser wouldnât be that hard if the softkeys would do something.
That is an excellent reply, thank you! As for your pots, I had some issues but used just a little spray of electronics cleaner and that has helped a LOT, you might want to give it a shot on your as well.
Thanks again, and great mod!
I think I may have found a possible bug with the latest download (0.2.3). Did a short flight this morning on MSFS Version 1.10.11 and had an issue with the Heading Bug Sync where it only wanted to go to a position just ânorthâ of the 9 oâclock position on the indicator, no matter which direction I was flying. I would manually change the bug and tell it to sync, and it would go to just north of the physical 9 oâclock position again. I cleared out of that flight, out of MSFS to desktop and then while loading FltSim again, got the MSFS Update 1.11.6.0. Post the update, we tried again. Everything looked good, synced on the runway heading and took off. Then, while in flight, and trying to sync yet again, it went to that same âjust north of 9 oâclockâ position on the indicator. Manual movement to other headings and then attempting to sync, returned the bug to the 9 oâclock position (roughly). Havenât seen the issue before today when I loaded 0.2.3 and sync the bug quite often. Hope it is something minor. Otherwise, the test flights went well and I appreciate all the work on the DA-62.
If I can supply any additional info, please yell.
Al
it seems to be a global problem
The HDG bug offset I have seen with and without the mods. And in my case not even always to the same position in different SIM sessions.
It could be 85° left or right of aircraft heading but once the sim was running it was always off to the same side and amount.
Then a restart of the whole thing and it was ok again. If it wasnât a G1000 aircraft I would say the DG is not synched correctly but that is not possible in the DA62 I think.
At least not in the real thingâŠmaybe I should try to assign a button to that function an see if it corrects the bug
In my Saratoga I had a manual override for the HSI to realign it if was off between calibrations.
I saw there are autopilot changes with this update. how has it affected the 62?
I am going to take it for a spin in a bit and test a bunch of stuff in patch. Right now I am annoyed because they got rid of the arrow keys allowing your head to move in cockpit. For example head position up, left right⊠Annoying
Hi,
I also had or still have a problem with Heading Bug Sync. Today I made a flight from Lisbon to Casablanca and first thing I did after startup is verifying the Heading Bug Sync and it worked normally. But after lining up on the runway I pushed the Heading Bug Sync and the bug synched to approx. 5 oâclock position from the aircraft direction. I adjusted the bug manually and departed from Lisbon.
During the flight I remembered gyro drift in the classic cessna 172. I pressed D key on keyboard and the Heading bug aligned with the aircraft direction (or compass needle) . And after that the Heading Bug Sync Button on the G1000 worked normally as it should. After the latest update I tried short taxi and take off but the Heading Bug Sync button worked normally. Will see tomorrow if it works.
I have no idea if this is related somehow but I thought it might help.
Regards and thanks for great mod
Yes, it was unassigned due to the update (hopefully only this and not a lot other controls), so I had to reassign it the the throttle hat switch Iâve used it for.
Always try the std aircraft with community folder empty after an update. One thing that has improved for the better is on both the DA40 and the DA62 the autopilot engagement is much much better. No nose drop at all when just turning the AP on and enaging pitch mode, and very little drop when then switching to FLC mode. On the std DA40 this is a big improvemetn as enaging the autopilot often saw it diving for the ground.
Any enhancements you have made in the past to correct these problems may no longer be required.
MrT - flight model changes over previous official version - no other changes in systems, engines, target, ai or aircraft cfgs
their changes are similar to mine in some ways
After the 1.11 patch, I noticed that the bank angle of turns with the HDG A/P engaged is just 10 degrees. Itâs an awfully slow turn rate.
Other than that, the DA62X seems to be operating okay with 1.11.
Edit: After realizing I had to go into Marketplace to download/install USA, the ADI doesnât appear in the DA62 PFD. However, I got it to show up after loading other aircraft like the DA40 and G36, then going back to the DA62. But when I reboot/restart MSFS and go straight into DA62 the ADI is gone.
You should think about copyrights.
Notice the Autopilot âsmoothingâ makes the turn very very slooooww
So my hunch that I had posted before that despite this being a 100% modern aircraft the sim somehow allows for Gyro-Drift was correct and mapping a key to resynch the directional gyros to the compass heading at least gets the HDG bug to line up correctly again ![]()
Since yesterday was a no-fly day for me because by the time the Update had finished downloading the 17Gb of useless data on my slow connection it was time to go to bed, I started today with the default DA62 for a short flightâŠwowâŠjust wowâŠcan not believe how bad it is compared to the DA62 Mod
Now Iâll put the mods back in and restart the sim. Hopefully G1000 and DA62 will be back to their modded states so I can continue to enjoy the Sim.
Can not thank you folks enough who gifted these modifications to us.
