I’ve been able to start from cold and dark - after a lot of craziness I got the feather to work thanks to Mark from SimHanger on YT - but my issue now is no landing lights projecting at night - even though the switch works and the animation looking at the wing lights up - just no projection…anyone else?? Taxi lights are fine.
Love the Kodiak 100 but it hasn’t ported over to FS24 well. Like many here I’ve managed to get workarounds to lever problems etc. but since the last update FS24 and PimaxPlay the Kodi is behaving very oddly in VR. With the fuel shutoff valve open (down) when the fuel lever (red) is pushed forward during startup, the right lens starts to “flow like liquid” in part of the view. It stops when either the valve is closed or the mixture lever is closed. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
Seems the VR problem was fixed by installing DLSS 3.8. But now have a further problems in 2D: Cannot introduce fuel even though red lever works. And if I try to change the variant in configure, sim CTD when new variant selected. I think the sim update broke something as it was working fine prior. Will try re-installing the Kodi.
The landing lights do seem very week going back to test it again. So far with a couple annoyances the Kodiak 100 seems to be one of the better ones to fly atm. Exclusively use it for my OA career so at least can continue my work there.
Yeah landing lights no effect on ground however can see effects in clouds and such, they are pointing straight out/forward no downward angle. I am not sure if this is correct or not just observation.
One of the instructions when purchasing the Kodiak in msfs2020, was to UN-install the Working Title G1000nxi version from the core sim so it would not interfere with the Kodiaks own version that came with it.
There is interference because the small arc is missing on the display that shows where you will be at the end of your decent to your intended altitude.
I added the Kodiak now to my Community Folder and it’s selectable. But I’vn’t any sound.
Even using CTRL E when starting the engine catches fire and shuts down. ITT at 1200 at start of starting sequence. This happens on parking ramp. Seems ok when on runway and already started.
That is how it works in FS2020 also.
On my Warthog throttle, I use the friction slider and tweak it so that the centre point is at the cruise revs, 2000 rpm.
For feather, I have another switch, below it on the quadrant, that I flick to take it into and out of feather. TBH, I only tended to use that switch at start up and then “forgot about it”.
Maybe control & E is missing something or doing something wrong in the startup. You could try doing it manually.
Thanks, but I have tried manually to start up still getting the same hot start and shutdown though.
I’ve uninstalled FS2020, so will see if I can get the Kodiak into FS2024 and give it a try.
I’ve just managed to install it to FS2024 and it would appear that Ctrl&E moves the fuel mixture lever away from cut off, even before engaging the starter and from my fairly vague recollection of the starting process, that would be likely to cause an issue.
I’ve tried a manual start and only moved the mixture lever out of cut-off, after a shortish delay. There is an engine reading that governs when, but I’m afraid my vague recollections don’t stretch that far.
Either way, I got the engines running, so it looks like a manual start is going to be a far better bet than Ctrl&E.
Edit: However, when I move my throttle lever forward, the one in the cockpit moves too, but there is no apparent registration of that fact on the instruments or in the tone of the engines. A little more research and tweaking might be necessary.
LOL, the fuel levers on the overhead. Doh
Oh and whatever binding I’d used in FS2020, to switch the prop between feathered and un-feathered, would appear to not be available in FS2024.
“CTRLE” never worked for me in 2020 either…got used to cold and dark starting at park position.
do you have sound?
I’ve had that Kodiak disabled lately in 2024. Not a fan of not seeing characters or cargo that used to be in 2020. I’ll check next time I’m on.
I didn’t take off, but the engines and switches were definitely creating sound.
I’m a bit engrossed in career mode missions atm and it’s a shame the Kodiak can’t be used for that, but I’ll probably give it a few flights over the festive period.
hmmm, it looks like I might be waiting for the FS2024 variant, as in VR, there is a painful shimmer around the virtual throttle quadrant, when the engine is running. It is truly painful to look at and would render the aircraft impossible to fly in VR, at least for me.
I will see what the promised update does, but if it doesn’t address this one, there’ll be no point keeping it on my system.
