Here I demonstrate the methods for reaching Mach 9 in just over 9 minutes. This adds a lot of playability of the Darkstar giving it a much quicker or more active piloting to get to stratosphere.
- Basic preflight checks
- Take off at 90% power
- Aft stick to up-pitch 30 to 40 degrees and landing gear up, switch breaks back to on (for landing).
- Increase throttle as needed to maintain neutral acceleration
- Climb approximately 10,000+ f/s
- Switch aft and fore fuel pumps off to use side fuel tanks to preserve center of gravity (this is how Concorde and SR-71 operates it seems to make a big difference here).
- Reach ~45,000 feet.
- Forward stick to up pitch about 10 degrees or 5 degrees to gain Mach.
- At Mach 0.9 pre-scramjet check.
- Roll to inverted and aft stick to up-pitch about 20 to 30 degrees.
- Maintain inversion until about Mach 1.3.
- Roll to standard configuation and aft stick as needed to up-pitch about 10 degree above horizon.
- Do not exceed 2.8G
- Wait for 3.5 Mach and +30,000 feet.
- Engage Scramjet wait for alarm to clear and Scramjet to engage.
- Turn off air-breather power plant fuel pumps to kill those engines early
- Maintain less than 2.8G and around 10degree up pitch to stratosphere.
