Day 2 Impressions

It was nice to wake up this morning to a mostly working new simulator with all of my purchased content included, even MSFS2020 marketplace purchases. It’s definitely going to take some learning and getting used to with the new UI but I do like it.

The simulator doesn’t work, it’s worthless, and it’s outrageous. I think the forum posts speak for themselves.

Same here … working but ling load times ( accept first weeks due to hype )

Graphics looks great if all streamed correctly
Not sure why grass need to be streamed though

Got ppl … 2 mission … completed 2 cpl flights

Reasonable happy on my high end computer
Except the bandwith thing

So an option to download 200gb of data on an ssd would be great in the future. Think nowadays people have larger ssd’s anyway … so what is the problem

It’s impossible to load anything in the sim, planes won’t load in the main menu, world data won’t load and I’ve been waiting 30 minutes since I clicked fly to get into the actual flight. (Location Germany with Fiber 250 Mbits)

I thought those with slower internet speeds could already opt to download some content to their PCs, rather than streaming it?

Plugging directly into my 350mb fibre (instead of my 100mb wifi) made no meaningful difference sadly.

It is hit or miss and also depends on your region. For some people they still haven’t even managed to install the game yet let alone flying it. For those that did manage to install it - cannot log in to session and those that did manage to log in are having loads of other issues like missing aircraft/textures etc.

Clearly experiences are varying. The only real complaint I have so far this morning is that the mouse cursor kept disappearing in the walk around mode.

Well, yesterday was frustrating! But today I was able to fly over my hometown here in norway, and it was amazing! Everything ran smootly on my Xbox s. I think this sim will be great.

I have the imperession that more people are online now … loading is slower the the rest of the day ( netherlands )

it will be possible, but i think it isnt currently. You can download planes and sceneries to your local drive.

We’ve been sharing a V92 modem in the UK since brexit, so we’re not loading into any flights

currently flying right now in the cessna 172 just to get my feet wet. Flying from KSDL to KPSP. I wanted to check out the new desert photogrammy.Graphics are quite improved. Especially roads and bridges. I plan on using both sims while MSFS 2024 ages like a fine wine. And I know Asobo will continue to work hard on improving MSFS 2024. What a good time to be a flight simmer!

Probably worthwhile for people to say where they are and what system they’re on. Sounds like console folks and Europeans are having bad experiences, PC players and Americans much better.

europe, spain
powerhouse of a computer and a gb internet connection

Everything worked great for me this morning; I see all the planes and my back-compat 2020 marketplace content is ready to run. Took a quick pre-dawn flight from KSNA to KSBA via downtown Los Angeles, and had much more consistent performance throughout the flight than 2020, without the multiple frequentl brief drops and stutters (which I always assumed were due to scenery loading).

In fact the only stutter I got was when approaching near KBUR which I have a Marketplace add-on for, so that may have been the culprit.

No bandwidth errors or warnings; during initial startup of the flight it was downloading at around 200 Mbit/s for a couple minutes; I didn’t watch the charts later in the flight.

As before I suspect network issues with their CDN are the culprit for slow package and scenery data downloads – so if you had lots of bandwidth problems before, expect it to be worse now. If you didn’t before, you might be fine (like me).

Portland, Oregon, USA ← usually good network connectivity to microsoft

U.S. east coast…monster PC

and i really am getting bored of the loading video now
