DC Designs F-14A/B Tomcat Announcement & Discussion

I’m sorry. How did we destroy your MP experience? All of our feedback has been nothing but positive in the community at large.

Also: our F-18 sound pack is not compatible with FS24 yet, even loading it in its current form won’t do anything.

No need to bash. If you have genuine and sincere feedback, we always listen to our community members.

This is a bit off topic. I won’t let this thread be taken up by comments of our own work, regardless of whether or not DC wants to use us for audio. They have loyalty with Sim Acoustics and I absolutely honor and respect that.

If you have questions or feedback, please reach out to me directly.

I repurchased this addon as well as all of your other addons from the marketplace.

  • All of your addons have given me the most entertainment in MSFS over the last 4 years.
  • Although I prefer to fly the Heatblur F-14, I still fly this addon too - due to the fictional “moderniized” avionics. I only wish that the “modernized” avionics package included a helmet mounted display :slightly_smiling_face:
  • I am all in with the as needed streaming of addons in MSFS 2024. I am willing to accept the update delay process of the Asobo Marketplace.

Happy Holidays

Tomcats being updated with visible static weapons for the Marketplace, improved undercarriage modeling and increased LOD01 cockpit detailing. Should be available within a week or so.

Thank you DEAN01973 for doing this, the F-14 is by far my favorite aircraft in MSFS. They look absolutely fantastic, especially the Wolfpack paint scheme. I am looking forward to seeing them in the sim. I was wondering, will all three versions of the F-14, the A, B and D be available in the new MSFS 2024 sim? I can’t wait to fly them when they come out.

All will be officially converted eventually, but at this time MSFS2024 is a bit of a mess so I’m waiting for it to settle down. Current MSFS2020 versions work well in MSFS2024 if placed in the Community Folder, but Marketplace customers are dependent on Asobo converting them for us, as we developers have no access to the MSFS2024 Marketplace at this time, so couldn’t convert the aircraft even if we wanted to.

I’m really hoping “DEAN” the developer for this product will improve the external special effects along with cockpit details and external modelling - but what pleases me a lot about his Tomcat is the sound and flight dynamics. I absolutely love those and quite addicted to this bird.

Also, weapons have been added so I’m really going to be glued to FS20 now. Do you think we will be able to engage/fire the weapons at some point?

Doesn’t say anything about external special effects. By the way, the heat haze or signature from both engines start to emit on a cold start even though the aircraft starts one engine at a time. Have you noticed that?

@Batterby76

As you were previously and repeatedly told in the discord, they are standard and stock effects, same as most devs use, smoke is being updated and added to multiplayer visibility but your questions were already answered as many times as you asked them in the discord.

Not sure what you are referring to. I recently picked up your Tomcat and using other fighter jets in the game too such as the Felon and Asobo Hornet - the engine heat haze starts to come out one engine at a time upon cold start.

Developers cannot provide support on these forums, as it’s against the rules.

Hey everyone. I recently discovered that on the F-16 at least, as long as you don’t touch the brightness for the nav lights and recognition lights after turning them on, the red and green lights on the fuselage and wing tips look fine, I mean passable, not as good as MSFS 20, of course.

But with the Tomcat, I noticed that the green/red nav and recognition lights as well as strobes (strobes are broken on all aircraft during daytime I believe) are only visible on the A and D variant, and even then the red light around the fuselage and wingtip looks broken or glitchy and the green light looks fine.

Now, with the F-16, I noticed the same texture corruption or glitching around the red light if I increase the brightness of the light. Is there a nav and recognition light brightness toggle in the cockpit for the Tomcat? I studied the Just Flight manual but couldn’t find anything.

Thanks so much - any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Very eager to see improvements and updates to the Tomcats in 2024. Any idea how long that will be? Other third party planes have already been updated or in the process.

They’re planning to do that next, they release plenty of info on Facebook and their discord channel, check previous posts here for a link if you’re interested

I don’t use FB or anything else, don’t have time for that, frankly. I mostly take small breaks from work to post here - so it’d be nice to finally see updates rolling out for the Tomcats on 2024.

AFAIK that’s the only way to get updates directly from most of the developers, but I admire anyone who can resist the social media alure

Yes, it’s a recipe for a headache. This is just straightforward messaging and it’s on a computer screen, so I just do what I need to do, and nothing else.

Anyhow, would be interesting to see someone from the development team leave updates here as well on the progress / improvements to the Tomcats for 2024.

There is no 24 update progress to give. As stated on Discord and other places including threads here, 24 updates will commence once 2020 updates are complete. Thats the latest until we post more info in the Discord or facebook channels
