I know, but I’d like to assign it to a button, on my throttle
Unfortunately it’s not possible to add custom animations to a throttle or stick button - unless Asobo introduce a HUD Power switch variable to the sim, it’s manual use only I’m afraid.
Okay, thank you
A quick question for folks regarding the F-15 HUD brightness issue. I’ve noticed that many modern HUDs have a noticeable green tint to them, and the Strike Eagle is no different. The colour is used to project the displays on to as it improves contrast in bright lighting conditions. The F-14, I recently discovered, had a green-tinted windscreen for the same reason.
Worth a shot for the update? I will test it as soon as I can but it might solve all issues without the need for constantly having to mess with a brightness knob.
I can’t really tell ya if it’s worth a shot until I see what it looks like. Any way you can upload a screenshot of the change and THEN ask so we could look at it before you “commit” to it?
Hi i read somewhere that the early F14 projected the HUD onto the windscreen but became out of focus when the windscreen distorted. They then projected it onto the glass which we use today. Not alot of use to you i know but shows the evolution of the current system.
That might be a more sensible approach, yes I was rather excited at the possibility and wondered what others thought. I will check it out soon and share the results if they are promising.
Well… ya know how it goes… You change something, include that in the update, and then all of a sudden you have an army of people that want it reverted back… Then it needs to wait until the next one, etc… Things like that, it may be less painful to put it out and see if it flies. I am sure it’s fine cause it does sound like a good solution.
In fact thinking about it my car HUD projects on the windscreen but I guess it doesn’t go fast enough to distort the windscreen !
Does anyone know how to correctly input a nav frequency? I can dial in a standby frequency, and I see it reflected on the MFD, but I can’t find the XFER button to switch the active and standby frequencies.
I searched the manual, and it mentions the nav & com input panel but doesn’t explain any procedures for how to use it or what the individual controls do, such as if there’s some special way it works that’s different from other planes that have a specific button for swapping frequencies?
Thanks for any help.
(To clarify this problem was noticed in the F-15I. The manual mentions a CHAN1/CHAN2 switch for the F-15C, which would solve my problem if I could find such a switch on the F-15I but I don’t see one.)
(Note the switch within this panel is not clickable and has no tooltip. The green button is NAV/GPS and switches between radio nav and GPS nav)
For the F-15 E/I the nav swap switch is up on the Up Front Control Panel, beneath the HUD - one of the grey buttons on the left hand side
My fault, it was added in the updates and sounds like I forgot to add the info to the manual. Will add it to the to-do list for the next update.
@DEAN01973 bingo that’s it! Thanks, it’s working for me now.
Oh another question – I sometimes have trouble with the autopilot rolling constantly left and right, a really hard oscillation. Happened to me after I started my descent this flight, but not during my climb. Then later after slowing down to subsonic speeds, the autopilot seemed ok again. Is there any guidance on it being usable/unusable at supersonic speeds? Or is it supposed to not oscillate and there’s some kind of problem? Thanks for any help!
(Obviously this is not a plane you get for the autopilot! But it’s handy for distance portions between cool-flying portions. )
Yeah, the autopilot really only works well at subsonic speeds in MSFS for all aircraft. It is possible to balance it using the AI.cfg files, but Asobo have said that official supersonic flight is coming to MSFS so they may change all sorts of things to make that happen. I think we’re all waiting to find out how that will affect everything else when it appears.
nod cool, I figured it might be something like that. I’ll work around it for now.
@SAKISAPPOLON, are you using any mod or just the base product?
If you are using mods is not the correct thread.

i am using a mod but that’s not why im here.I know where i am.
It had to do with a livery.Strange though. It also caused CTD 2 times.
Besides flying the DCD F-15 myself, I would like also to use it as an AI plane to fly with it in formation, and to populate military airports. For creating AI traffic I use the AI Flight Planner (AIFP) tool. With the first official release of the F-15 this worked fine. Version 1.01 doesn’t show up as AI plane any more. I’m using version 1.01 without any mod.
Does anyone have the same experience?
