Both in the official Marketplace and through 3rd party installers.
I don’t mind photos showing the extra details but not showing the actual parts that aircraft use most is a serious omission when trying to entice flight simmers to buy your product.

Thank you for mentioning aerial approach pictures! That’s a huge one too!
And a nice airfield overview screenshot showing the runway layout from pattern altitude would be nice as well.
I had two issues with that approach. The service edge line hack seems to have a difference in the curvatures it makes. That can be overcome to an extent but then the intersecting lines don’t work quite right. I’ve tried overlaying a second default line on top but it takes a lower priority and renders underneath. On simple designs I can get away with black apron.
The funny thing with the SDK is the runways look too clean and the default paint looks worse.
I’m going to see if I can try some projected mesh work this weekend. The overly clean look eats at me.
I’ve only used it for relatively straight-forward ground markings so fortunately not encountered those issues.
I’m interested to see if I can lay a weathering texture projected mesh over an apron. If not I guess you can always create the apron as a projected mesh too. The only downside to this is that you need to apply the material in Blender - you cant apply materials directly to meshes in the sim. One important thing to remember is the ‘Draw Before’ setting for meshes - if its left at default then every mesh will draw below the apron regardless of the priority you give it.
Thank you for your replies however this thread is specifically to discuss our desire to send a message to developers that we want to see runway/taxiway/parking areas in their product showcases.
Please move scenery design discussions to a separate thread.
Thanks again.

As a small developer this thread is so valuable!
I’ve been trying to dirty up the aprons and also crack seal where two different coloured aprons meet etc.
Guilty of not taking many screenshots of the aprons & runways so I probably should go back and add those
Thank you so much! Your reply alone has made this thread worth it.

This is what I have been saying all along:
Instead of whining and complaining, get your coding mojo on and try to create a solution.
Even if you fail abysmally, you tried and that makes all the difference in the world, (as far as I am concerned).
That’s because your are putting all your time into those details you think nobody will notice, and the SDK is fighting you on every step.
Then, when you need to snag the latest screen shot … That’s when you see 10x+ other things you missed.
That screen shot is so tough as it sends you back in to fix stuff.
I’m a amateur scenery developer. I’m part of the team that really believe that a weathered taxiways and aprons are very helpful to make-it-real. As if they were used. It’s a must-have for my sceneries. As well as specific/local signs, the one that don’t find in any other place and 0% generic.
Just to take one example, for Oceano (L52) at the fuel station (just a apron object with a decal) :
Another example at Agua Dulce (L70)
It’s a coincidence because the reason why I first create an upgrade airport (KMYF) was to fix taxiway signs
Then, adding an object after another one and learning Blender, I finally build all brand new ![]()
Example at Toussus-Le-Noble (LFPN) where I had to desgn the blue poles who looks different from the object MSFS library, not t mention the one way sign :
I’m just dev on my spare time and can imagine the huge amount of work considering big airports. It’s fun on small GA field but could represent a considerable quantity of object on major platform and big dev project.
It’s not just the ground. I really dislike the way some hand modelled sceneries have buildings that are so fresh they look like they’ve come straight from the architect’s drawing board. All surfaces are exposed to wear and tear and all external surfaces are exposed to the weather. In real life nothing looks new for more than a few weeks at best.
I really want the scenery to look real, and having realistic weathering on buildings is a fundamental building block that is bizarrely often overlooked.
A lot of scenery developers (payware sceneries included) are so concentrated on terminal interiors and then the ILS doesn’t work, or maybe it’s working but the localizer is offset where it shouldn’t be or the glideslope/PAPI are completely out of range.
Who cares about the terminal interior when there are such basic things like the ILS not working? I can tell you a lot of payware airports that are in this situation …
In 2023, the flight simulation community has increased dramatically as well as the spectrum of usage. From curious rookie pilot with limited knowledge of the technical aspect of aviation (an ill-hell-what?) to hard core simmers with peripheral and using everything as-real-as-it-gets. Overall, it’s an opportunity for developers gaining from a huge market. Unfortunately all addons are not targeted to the vast usage of this big community and some may interest “you” and not others and vice versa. Even for airport addon.
I truly feel that some standards must be implemented for 3pD and that is a must to have options to turn of interious, statics, clutter etc to off. Sure i understand many likes those features. But many dosnt.

How do you feel about product showcases that include screenshots of everything but the runways, taxiways and parking aprons? That’s the topic of this thread.
Thank you for your efforts. If/when you’re ready to share your work, please be sure to show us those lovely runways, taxiways, and parking aprons in your product screenshtos.
Of course i dont like that. I would like to se parkingspaces taxiways and more info on all things on airside. To much screenshots of landside with cars, busses and interior.
Enjoy here and at flightsim.to, for example :
Can’t wait to give them a try. Thanks for sharing.
