December 4th 2024 Developer Livestream - Discussion

It was disappointing to see them dismiss the VRAM issue. Plenty of people are calling it out with far more powerful setups than is required.

I’ve seen this issue myself on numerous occasions and I’ve watched it happen with the FPS overlay open. I can go from a perfectly acceptable usage on the ground sat in the cockpit, to overflow VRAM in a matter of seconds without doing anything at all. Framerates of 60 (capped) to somewhere between 5 and 10 for about 3 or 4 minutes before it disappears as fast as it came and my performance sorts itself. This has even happened in the main menu, I’ve never had that before.

Having a 4070 super I’ve been careful with VRAM even in 2020, but I’ve never had issues to these levels even when I’m in the same aircraft and in the same airport - something is off and it’s probably a memory leak as suggested.

Just take it seriously and look at it?

Ok - it might be your Xbox Display configuration. Did you check in “TV & Audio” what Display settings you configured?

If not, come on Discord (here) - someone will surely be able to help you!

Ok they will prioritize fixing 2024 issues…

So they will never touch 2020 again?

An unpopular notion perhaps, but even with the awful start, I’m pleased I was there on Day one… :relieved:

So just to be clear, Seb’s solution for people maxing out their V-Ram on their 4090 GPUs is to “Buy some new hardware”. Unbelievable.

Yeah just SLI those 4090’s, oh wait.

That’s only going to help data consumption if you are on a data cap. I am so I definitely have to use it. 96GB.

No VRAM bug they say?

Then please explain this to me:

I cannot disagree less, in fact.

Dynamic Frame Rate Target isn’t related to FG. The Dynamic Frame Rate Target lowers graphical settings (I guess it’s mostly changing LODs) whenever your FPS are lower than what you set.

Is the stream of this available anywhere. Like to hear it.

And everybody’s s…out of luck when they decide to shut it all down. Microsoft is great at doing that. I think they intimidated Asobo into taking this route. Not much of a backbone, non?

He never said that, he said there are two possibilities: 1 - Hardware limitations or 2 - Memmory leaks.

If you see this all the time, with all aircraft and wherever in the world you are, it can be a memmory leak and you should open a ticket. But if it’s the first, you need to lower your settings (textures, LODs, resolution etc), anything that offloads your VRAM.

I have two PCs (desktop and laptop). My desktop has a 4090 (24GB of Vram), and I have no issues to use the sim @1440p Ultra settings (FG on for the really heavy sceneries like KLAX).

My laptop has issues when looking around (@1920x1200 Ultra settings). I have to lower some of the settings to stop the stuttering.

That said, my case is the first case, hardware limitations (8GB of Vram).

Yep. And the end of MSFS 2024 will follow sooner than later. Too many holes to fill.

Hi @A68yoSniper

  • Yup.Cclick on the link in the first post in this topic :slightly_smiling_face:

After I watched the livestream and read this forum, I’m feeling hopeless now. I should look for another hobby. I will miss you MSFS.

As a non native speaker, please bare with me, but will user mods such as repaints or add on sceneries become possible again or not? Any help is highly appreciated.

Kind regards

How do most games have an option for frame rate vs quality under graphics settings?
