Decent PC

Cool, thanks for the advice will look more into this

Good work here WeirdNeville and I can’t fault your reasoning or conclusion on comparing the two systems :slightly_smiling_face:

That said, the weaker system proposed by the OP will offer more future proofing if he wants to later upgrade to a 7800x3d cpu or 8800x3d (or whatever it is called when it comes out) at which point he could then sell the 7700x to help pay for the improvement. A PC system with a next gen x3d cpu, 7800 or 8800, should rock for MSFS for quite a few years into the future.

Hello from Canada,

A friend of mine want to sell his pc and I don’t know if it could be a good buy for me.

I own a Xbox serie X with MSFS 2020 since july 2023 so I am new on this sim. I play 6 hours per week average

What do you think about those specs for a newbie like me.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
Mobo Asus Tuff Gaming b450
Cooler aorus 280 led
16 gb ram corsair 3600mhz
Graphic card Nvidia geforce 3070 rtx Asus
Ssd M.2 1to wb
Psu 750w corsair
Case Gamemax
Windows 10 pro

Thanks for help

Andre

Sounds pretty good… if the price is good lol

Yip, it all depends on price. I would use PC Part Picker to build up a system using those parts, then compare its cost estimate to what your friend is asking, and determine if you think it’s a good deal being in a used condition.

You won’t be running everything on ultra with those specs, but you should be able to tune the sim to make it work to your liking. The only real questionable part in it would be the 1TB m.2 card. Depending on what else you wish to use the pc for and how much you are wanting to store. That 1TB can quickly be eaten up by MSFS + add-ons and other games. I think the base sim alone is over 100 GB, plus all the updates you’ll add on top of that. Doesn’t look like there is a second m.2 slot on the mobo, so you may need to add a 2.5" SSD if space gets tight.

Just an update on my system, its all built and been running the sim for about the last month or so, been playing with the settings and got everything where i want it

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 7600x
GPU - Gigabyte Geforce RXT 4070 12gb
Motherboard - Gigabyte B650 Gaming x
Mem - 32gb Corsair DDR5 6000mhz
SSD - 1tb M.2
PSU - Corsair RM850e

The price asked in canadian dollars is 1100$

I upgraded my 2133 MHz DDR4 from 32 to 64 GB with no real change, and all indications that only 15-18 GB being used … although 2024 will likely make better use of cores and RAM …

Mmm … Difficult one with it being a friend.

My gut feeling (nothing else really) would be to say you don’t really want to spend more than 850 Canadian dollars (around 500 GBP) and offer him that.

All I can say really is that this is what I would personally be happy paying assuming the PC is currently in good shape and problem free. Worth and value is pretty subjective. Your own mileage might vary.

Might be worth seeing what other people think here though before making a decision.

Also, maybe have a look and see what 1100 Canadian dollars will get you in your country for brand new PC kit :slightly_smiling_face:
