I use flight tracking/logging programs on networked computers which, of course, require to load flight plans. I use a (common) folder - MSFS Flight Files - on OneDrive that is accessible to the networked comps. Works great.
The issue:
If I do a flight plan in the sim and save it, it saves to the default flight files folder:
C:\Users**\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
- or -
I can use the drop-down menu to save where I want. OK, but…
The conundrum:
Is there a way to change the default flight files folder location…
- or -
Could I use a ‘symbolic link’ in place of the default folder pointing to the common folder…
Without throwing the whole sim into a tail-spin…
Don’t know if there’s a way to change the default folder, but in Windows you can add a folder to the Quick Access list (browse to your folder in Explorer, then right click the Quick Access header and “Pin Current Folder to Quick Access”). Its not moving the default folder, but at least browsing to your One Drive folder is only a single click. And it won’t screw anything up.
Thanks, but I just want to simplify, or make automatic, the process of saving flights from the sim - directly to the common folder. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but I know how sensitive the sim is as far as folder structure, especially at the ‘AppData’ level. I am hoping someone may know so I don’t have to do the ‘trial and error’ thing…
