I never noticed until now, so not sure if this is new with latest update or I just didn’t realize it before. If I go into my General Options, Data and press “DELETE” under rolling cache. It sets the rolling cache size to 0 and turns it off.
Is this expected behavior? I thought this would just clear the contents of the rolling cache but maybe I am miss understanding.
If I “Reset To Defaults” it turns the rolling cache back on, but leaves the size at 0.
When I delete the rolling cache in the Sim, it’s still present on my HD (20GB). Shouldn’t this file be deleted automatically? If so, can I delete it manually?
if you delete the r.cache within the sim the file goes away.
if you delete the file manually from disc a default file is created with next start of the sim.
Not entirely true. When I delete the rolling cache a 20GB cache file is still present on my HD.
But I’ll delete it using explorer, assuming a new (default file) is created.
hmmm… should not happen… I tried it and in case I press DELETE the cache file is removed from disc and the cache is disabled. The values I set are in meanwhile stored ( e.g. no longer reseted to 0 ) so I can easy re Enable it and new file will be created.
In my case Deleting Rolling Cache (in the sim) would result in a Cache-file remaining on my HD (20GB). It appeared I also had an old Manual cache file (5GB) on my HD which I created months ago and also thought I had deleted.
But indeed, when I deleted it using explorer it was really gone.
Something to keep in mind when there’s a new World-update and the Cache should be renewed to process the altered data. I can imagine some hiccups when an old Cache-file is used to process new data.
yes… but I wonder whats the reason that in your case is the cache file not deleted… I create a 16Gig r.cache file on a second drive ( ntfs ) . But yes… manuall removal is also the quickest variante, you not need to start the game to delete the cache file.
