Deleting default planes

I am running low on hard drive space, and was wondering if I should delete some of the default planes I never use. My question is, if I do so, do I stand the risk of causing malfunctions or conflict on other default or add-on planes.

Has anyone tried this?

thanks!

You can delete many of the default planes except for maybe the TBM and a couple others which are mandatory I think. But the sim should re-download any packages you delete that are required.

Hey @ShyMarigold6247. I moved your post to the #self-service:install-performance-graphics subcategory where you might find some infor on your installation and how to change dafault content. Hope this heps.

Thank you.

Personal Comments

I’ve done this to reduce the amount of space on the fast (but relatively small capacity) SSD that houses the sim.

There are only several planes you can’t delete. Prior to Game Of The Year, that would have been the TBM 930 and the C152 that had to be in the base sim. There are tricks around that, but I don’t personally want to try them as my installation is very stable.

The only side-effects of not having specific planes is that you may not be able to perform certain activities that are plane-specific - like the recent Kingston Challenge, or the Discovery Flights and Bush Trips.

You can also do this for airports, Points of Interest, and other items inside the scenery and whatever version of the sim you own.
