Departures world map, automatic how?

Hi

Im still trying to understand how the departure setting works on the world map. I often fly IFR low/high In airliners from busy airports like Heathrow.

Sometimes when I plan a route a departure will automatically insert into the flight plan, but 95% of the time it will just be a direct departure.

Is this just a bug or is there certain way to do do things so a departure automatically adds to my plan?

I use live weather, live traffic.

Of course I could manually select a departure but I like that the world map does it for me based on real time, but it just seems very hit and miss if it does.

I always start from gate as well.

Just to update on this I tested numerous times.

Departure from Heathrow to US international airports I get a departure and arrival automatically assigned in the world map.

Anything into Europe or UK airports and I just get a direct departure.

Personal Comments & Observations

Try creating the Flight Plan outside the sim using an EFB like Little Nav Map. Don’t select a Departure when building the route. Import it into the sim. Now you should be able to select a Departure using the drop-down. Note it may do two things: one is jumble the waypoints in the plan, or it may provide you a graphical option of different routes with corresponding times in the map display. You can click on a greyed out one to choose that instead of the current routing.

Thanks, Im on xbox, so don’t have the tools at easy disposal to do these things. Im just curious why flight plans into Europe do not automatically insert departure and arrival, yet anything into the US does.

If you fly IFR, you should be able to select your standard instrument departure on the right tab like here :

It always works for me. (Great tutorials on the offical channel for the A310 btw).

Yeah that works, its just that it doesn’t do it automatically.

If I select a US destination from the UK, I get a departure automatically chosen as well as a few alternative routes.

If I set from UK to a EU destination I just get direct departure and have to manually select a departure if I wish.

Oh yeah and I agree the A310 tutorials are great, going to watch them in more detail at the weekend.
