Nice finds, thank you!

There seems to be none in Calabria and Puglia though…

Let’s keep on searching for them together.

Just wondering, what “qualifies” as a detailed airport? I found a couple glider airports in Florida, US that have some interesting scenery…

Great finds, everyone, and thank you for continuing to contribute to this thread! I have added all of the airfields mentioned since my last posting:

FATW Tswalu Game Reserve (South Africa)
KLXV Lake Co (Colorado, USA)
ENSD Anda (Norway)
LIAL Sant’Illuminato (Italy)
LIFF Agriturismo Podere Santa Apollonia (Italy)
LIHP Aviosuperficie Serristori (Italy)
LIQB Arezzo (Italy)
02FA Osborn Airfield (Florida, USA)
FA42 Sheets (Florida, USA)

Swampbuggyguy, as you found with those two examples, all of the airfields that have been the subject of this thread/map all have static gliders and glider trailers as their most basic/root element, as well as better/more realistic ground tile blends (tarmac/grass) than the standard default AI-generated airports. If the airfields have any structures, then you will also notice that there are much more detailed/accurate hangars and FBO buildings than you will find at the standard default/AI-generated airports, having been custom-built and placed by hand, and many even have custom signage that is unique to the airport/airfields (names of the airports, names and logos of the flight schools and glider associations, etc., correctly reproduced and applied matching very close to reality). Furthermore, many of these also have added ground clutter (benches, tents, cones, playgrounds, dumpsters, trash cans, tractors, trucks, etc.) that you won’t find at the standard default airports. And lastly, none of these airports are marked as being “hand-crafted” in the in-game menu/map, even though they all very clearly are.

I’ve just started trying to fly gliders in 2024 and came across thia good video from AvAngel.

I’d always wondered how Asobo developed all these amazing detailed airfields, it seemed a real labour of love. At 1:50. in the video it explains how it all began. Apparently Jorg was a teenage glider pilot and has a real passion for them. The gliding community were invited to be involved and the result was all these amazing airfields. Thanks AvAngel and thanks Jorg!

For those who haven’t tried it, gliding is surprisingly fun in MSFS. I like to fly out of Princeville in Kauai.

After coming across this thread, I was inspired to look for aerodromes in my country, Spain. Here’s a list of the ones I’ve found so far. They are fairly basic sceneries, but they are clearly handmade!

LETD - Aeroclub l’Estartit
LENV - Aeròdrom del Pla de Bages
LECF - Calaf-Sallavinera Airport
LEPSD - Mollerusa UL
LERM - Robledillo De Mohernando
LECA La Nava - Corral De Aylln Airport
LEUM - Aeródromo de Lumbier
LEJE - Aeródromo Juan Espadafor
LEMW - Aeródromo de Jaen - Las Infantas
