Dev Questions for the Stream!

  1. Currently with MSFS 2020 and the CDN in place, around 250 Mb/s seems to be the maximum you can get. If your internet is 500 Mb/s, 1000 Mb/s, or 2000 Mb/s, the maximum download you can get seems to cap at about 250 Mb/s. Has there been a change to the CDN infrastructure for FS2024 that we will see larger throughput,?
  2. Will the 3 original bush trips from MSFS 2020 be included in FS2024?
  3. Reno Races is now being included as part of the base sim. However, none of the planes from Reno were listed as part of the base package. Unfortunately, many of us found those planes pretty underwhelming. For those who bought the 60 plane package, will there be an upgrade to those planes?
  4. Has the BlackShark.ai autogen algorithm been regionalized more? For example in MSFS 2020, in South Africa, the township houses come out as 2 story relatively affluent looking homes, which needless to say gives the area a different feel than it should.
  5. There currently is a penalty in performance the more addons you have loaded, and at some point, the sim will crash if you have too many. Is it now possible to have all your addons “loaded”, such as it knows about them and loads them when needed?
  6. I have heard that with bush trips, the leg now allows you to get out, refill your fuel, etc. Is it possible to now save at a leg, and have it pick up at that time (currently in MSFS 2020, if you save at a leg and restart, you start the next leg at the time of the start of the bush trip)

… 1 question:
Can we have a working marshaller for helicopters please?
Option to insert/“call” a helping marshaller for landing, hook jobs, Helipads…?

One thing I found interesting in a video is Jorg mentioning there are “rare” animals (such as the Maltese Tiger and the Snow Leopard) placed in their natural locations/habitats which may never be found! I suspect some folks will take on that challenge!

Hello @tgbushman,

All of the Reno planes (L-39 Albatross, Pitts Special S1S, P-51 Mustang, and T-6 Texan) are included in the Standard Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Those are the 5 default. What about the other planes when you bought the $60 Reno expansion? They use the 5 defaults as a template but change equipment, livery, etc. Won’t those also have to be updated?

I believe in Jeff Favignano’s video he says all the Reno planes are coming with MSFS24 and all have apparently been “reworked” for MSFS24. It wasn’t said exactly what that means. That’d probably be a good question for the devs.

I think the answer to that is almost certainly yes. Hype are an absolute top tier developer. Reading between the lines I think they already had the H225 in development before MS came along and bought the project for FS2024. It’ll be as good as the other two Hype payware choppers.

What I’d like to know is do Hype have a stand alone action pack planned for the H225? It should really get one.

Can we eventually look forward to a Steam Deck Verified badge? When I play FS2024 on the go I want it to be a great experience!

The generic dullards in yellow vests standing around staring at your plane are slightly better drawn, be fair.
Also ,the random vans that drive about past your plane have much better sounds as far as I can tell .

Some small/GA airport-based questions, as this is an area that is more neglected and separated from reality than larger airports:

Will FAA-standard runway markings and taxiway signage ever be fully employed? (They currently are only partially correct and there are large discrepancies that stand out)

Will the overly-large and often-misplaced airport beacons be able to be made smaller, moved, or replaced using the World Hub? (They are part of a different layer and are not accessible in the SDK/World Hub as such)

Will we be able to use pilot-controlled runway lighting? (This is seen in the vast majority of public airports in the US)

Will runway end lights be uniformly distributed either above ground or on ground (but not a mix of both, as they currently, incorrectly are)?

Are we still going to have ramp workers and tugs standing around at every small airport or can we switch that off? (Will they be able to be removed via the SDK and/or world hub?)

Will there be more variation in windsocks? (Current ones are often way too large).

Can we ever expect to see T-hangars in the base scenery?

Hi question for the next dev session. I like very much the carrer concept, but would be possible to play it in “full sim” mode?, I mean if I want could I play the missions starting with the plane parked and dark, using ATC, charts and planification, etc… or only would be possible to play in a more “gamer” mode?.

If posible other questio, you explained a lot of weather, graphics, carrer, etc… and they are all great, do not take me wrong, but not a lot of info of the improvements in the fly phisics, I would like to get more info of this if possible, at the end this is a fligth sim
Thanks in advance

Questions for the developers:

  1. In MSFS 2024, will the world itself (base map) be up to date - meaning, will airports for major cities that were missing in MSFS 2020 now show up? For example Istanbul, or the missing runways in Seoul, and so on.
  2. Will the world be kept up to date over time, or is the 2024 base map static?
  3. If the base map is static, what date (or what year) isit?
  4. If major a new aiport opens in 2025 or 2026, will it show up in the sim?

Some of those are already answered here and there:
2 - They will keep updating both sims (2020 and 2024) with World Updates and City updates.
3 - The date of imagery and photogrammetry varies. Some parts of the World are newer than others.
4 - No. They need the data or handcraft the airports.

More questions for developers about MSFS 2024:

  • Will the streaming bandwidth requirements be higher if you have a triple monitor setup (since 2024 will do more processing in the cloud)?
  • Are there any changes / improvements to multiple monitor configuration?
  • Are there any changes / improvements for home cockpit users?

Is a converted 2020 plane, say the C172 steam, exactly the same as that plane in 2024? In other words, I now own 2020 premium, if I bought 2024 standard edition, would my C172 be exactly the same as when I bought 2024 deluxe?

You mean 2024?
2924 is the version where finally VR works OK-ish

Sorry about the post above. I probably should not post after I just woke up with not much sleep

I am sure (99.9%) that I read any deluxe or premium aircraft you own now will come over to even the standard edition of 2024, and be “upgraded” for free.

  1. Will fogging up the cabin be simulated (eventually) when there is not enough ventilation? Like in the A2A comanche.
  2. Can we open the doors without leaving the aircraft? And can they stay open after entering/leaving the aircraft? (for ventilation).
  3. With the walkaround mode added, are there plans to add a manual tow feature for light aircraft? Also like in the A2A comanche.
  4. Will landing lights and strobes light up the clouds?
  5. Any plans to implement a follow me car instead of the unrealistic arrows?
  6. Any plans to implement real world events into the free flight? Maybe things like forest fires, volcanic activity, closed off airspace because of big events (like a NATO meeting). They don’t have to be missions, but it would be nice to see the smoke of actual forest fires when cruising at altitude for example.

If you were watching the live dev stream today, the answer is definitely no regarding Blackshark improvements. They are no longer working with Blackshark and instead are working on something internal.

FYI, here is a slide of the next few Q & A Sessions from the 09/25 Dev LiveStream. (Jorg said that they may change though):
