Developer mode query

Just got new PC and it is running smooth on Ultra everything but developer mode says I am limited by GPU and sometimes Main thread. If it wasn’t for the developer mode I wouldn’t know that.
The system is running well with GPU at 45% and the CPU at 12 to 35%. I get 60 fps because it came up with Vsync set at 60 which is my screen refresh rate.
My system is
i9-11900KF
RTX3070
I am still setting it up so hope to learn more but if anyone has any ideas where to look I would be grateful.
I do not need to improve the performance but I am curious why it is reported this way.
Thanks in advance for helping my curiosity.

Don’t expect professional answers here.I think no one from Asobo or MS is
reading here. I’ve asked how settings in developer mode are saved.
The tab “save settings” is obviously not working. So,HOW can I save custom settings??
No one from the officials here, seem to be interested in helping, it’s so sad.

The devmode framerate tool allows you to see what is stopping your PC from pushing out more frames. It seems that you have no obvious bottleneck between cpu and GPU so it’s not so bad. This indicator doesn’t mean you are missing out on more FPS, it highlights it’s limitations.
Having 60fps is pretty solid, so turn off dev mode (or the logbook won’t record your flights), hide the fps tool and enjoy your flights!

I would expect developers to focus on more important work with 3rd party devs, work on the SDK, fix bugs in the sim or another other task that they’re supposed to do rather than giving tips on graphics settings. The community is out here for that.
Both Asobo and MS are reading this forum, but there is a limit on what they can do and focus more on the feedback to solve issues.

If you need support from a dev because of some development work you’re doing and you are stuck somewhere, https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/ is where you can ask such questions and get an answer.
If it’s a bug, you can look at workarounds here in the forums, submit a bug in the right forum section and on Zendesk so the devs are aware.
This is the course of action to take if you want a bug fixed. Devs can’t do everything.

Hope you can get your troubles sorted out soon!

As I said I do not have any performance problems I was just curious has to why dev mode is saying I have.

That label is answering the question “which took longer to complete its job last frame: the GPU or the CPU?”. I would expect neither to ever show up if you’re at a locked 60FPS, but maybe the devs always show it

It seems to be a quirk of the developer mode FPS counters. IF you are locked at 60fps then as long as your other (cpu bound) threads can keep up then you will show as “gpu limited”. If you turn of Vsync you will likely see this change to thread limited as your CPU struggles to push enough frames to the GPU.

Thanks I will try that.
EDIT Interesting with Vsync off fps 40 to 250 and limited by GPU sometimes and CPU others times and both occasionally. I will leave Vsync on and dev mode off. Forgetting about it all now my curiosity is satisfied.
