Development of sim skunk works LOCKHEED TF-FRF-104 G

Very nice Jet…to fly in a Sim. I remember the sound well. During my active time we called it the ‘Widow Maker’. Oops. This tells you how old I am…sorry… just reminiscing.

Worked fine for me today. I shut down the engine and let the sim stats window pop up, selected continue flight and was able to reload the ladysetup app, refill the tank and restart the engines.

Yep.

You just need to wait aircraft fully cold’n dark after shutdown before opening the canopy.

Instead, if I try to open the canopy while engine is still spooling down to 0% rpm after cutoff, then - as soon as the annoying logbook page open/closes on its own (and aicraft auto-reloads) I see the canopy automatically closing. Then if I open it again, no way to reclose it anymore.

So, again, wait to open the canopy after the aicract auto-reload has happened and you’ll be always fine .

As they say, just my 2 cents…

With this latest version I have two small issues and I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing them. First I can only get the tip tank flutter effect if I load the tanks with 0 fuel, any value above 0 and I do not get the flutter effect. Second the afterburner flame effect fails to show on every other flight, so I load into the sim and a flight, I get the flame, exit and start a new flight, flame is gone, exit and start yet another flight, flame is back. I’ve already engaged the help desk, just curious if others are experiencing this!

I did not experienced any of these but while i was watching the replay of my flight, the pilot suddenly dissapeared.
Restarted the flight and all was good in the 2nd playback.

KUDOS to SSW for the showcase cameras in the 3.0 version.
KUDOS as well for the awesome feature to have the pilot in the cockpit,so i can make awesome videos with my custom cameras.
I really hope that G-91 gets the same love as well

Interesting, thanks for the info. The tip flutter worked fine for me on v1 but since v2 I can only get it in that very particular case, and the AB flame I simply can’t explain. I even tested with zero addons to rule out a conflict, even though I have the same stuff installed since v1 when it was working.

Has anyone else noticed that the fuel burn is very high, even during cruise. All external tanks you can actually see the needles moving without afterburner. Ferry range they say is 1630 miles. There’s no way even with all tanks full this aircraft will not fly that far.

Since upgrading to the latest version I am seeing intermittent smoke being generated just ahead of the left main gear. This is happening both while on the ground and airborne. Anyone else seeing this?

I’m such a noob. I love the way the aircraft looks and bought the DCL but noticed I cannot add the fuel tanks without loading up the lady set up/TF 104G setup app. What is the keyboard shortcut to bring up the menu so I can edit the tip tank. For now I have been pining a shortcut to my taskbar only and need to minimize the screen each time I want to use it.

Hello,
were we say 1800 NM maximum range ?
May be you meant 800-900 NM
On best conditions it flies roughly 90 NM per 1000 pounds of fuel, having about 9200 pounds as maximum how can she fly above 1600 ?
At low altitude, high sped cruise (420 kcas) fuel consumption is around 6000 pph.
Afterburner consumption is not showed, but you can easily double what you read at FF meter

What you did is the correct and quick way.
May be next version will have an internal pop-up tablet to make such actions.

Thanks fellas. I’m so use to a tablet or just editing the fuel icon inside the game itself for these type of changes. Hopefully this gets integrated into the aircraft one way or another. If I knew this it would of swayed me from getting this right now.

There are many references on the web which indicate the ferry range is about 1800 NM. Here’s one specific to the TF-104G https://www.redstar.gr/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3187:tf-104g-starfighter-training-aircraft&catid=525&lang=en&Itemid=552
Is it accurate?

I’m going to assume that nobody else is seeing the smoke problem I mentioned above. I think I will delete the aircraft and do a clean install (I purchased through OrbX and updated through their app).

Edit… reinstalling didn’t fix it.

Probably because you over-spead the gear and broke it. Make sure you retract it immediately after takeoff. You’re welcome.

Guess no since it would mean about 200 NM per1000 pounds of fuel which is irrealistic.

Yeah I flew a flight from CYQL to KBOI and ran out of fuel with all tanks full around 180 miles out… hopefully they can rectify this issue.
