Development of sim skunk works LOCKHEED TF-FRF-104 G

Hello,
instead retard the throttle (AB switch over may occur) gently climb to maintain CIT on the limit edge (SLOW goes off) up to 37K then level off and accelerate again. (aka energy management)

Hello,
TACAN works only on pure vor/tacan, no tacan only.
NDB not used on that airplane

Thank you for the tip, though I’m asking about the phenomenon of the plane lunging forwards and backwards when I disengage the AB. Is this the AB switch over that you mention?

yep, it is.
J79 AB is not constantly modulated, it switches abruptly from min AB ( 3000 pounds more) and max AB (6000 pounds more), so when switch over occurs you have a 3000 pounds ā€œkickā€ or ā€œstopā€, for this reason formation take-off with F-104 was a little trickier than normal.

Ok, so if that were the case I’d expect to see the jolt at any speed if I disengaged the AB, however I only see this phenomenon above Mach 1, it’s delayed, and it’s a constant back and forth jolt and it goes for quite some time until the engine seems to settle itself and drop from 100+% rpm. I have a video of this, link below.

Hi
At least several months after Asobo included working TACAN stations all over the FS world I would appreciate a full working TACAN receiver instead of VORTAC VOR only in the 104. Here in Germany I got maybe just two working VORTACS in my region and canĀ“t use the many TACAN stations around. I always must cheat using Airport Design Eitor to build non existent VOR or use 3rd party stuff who did that already…

Hello,
saw the footage, it seems not related with AB and pretty new for me.
Will test and investigate.
Using real weather ?

hello,
it should work with plain VOR frequencies as well, at least VOR’s work nicely (almost all) here in Italy.

Thanks for taking a look. It seems to happen regardless of weather.

I did some more testing and it happens regardless of the weather. It happens above Mach 1 and happens when I come out of AB. The rpm needle seems to drop to around 98% then surge back to 103 and start the shaking back n forth. Sometimes if I reduce the throttle a bit more it’ll surge between 90 and 103 which creates more intense surges. It seems as though something is trying to keep the rpm at 103 and the throttle position interferes with that.

may be it’s just noisy part of scale of your throttle? it’s looks like 104 more sensitive to this than another. so you can see that jump only in 104. it’s easy to check by use f2 and f3 keys if you don’t rebind them from default. just try add and remove throttle at that sector of throttle by keyboard keys

Hello,
may i have a better idea, it could be related with the T2 reset that occurs above Mach 1.5 .
T2 reset try to set rpm at 103% to avoid compressor surge whatever throttle setting you have.
Try to accelerate to M 1.95 or above than set throttle to IDLE and do not move it.
You should verify that rpm stay at 103% until aircraft decelerates below 1.5.
It’s a normal behaviour, if you move throttle out of AB range may be software fight with throttle hw interrupt, this can’t be avoided.

I can confirm that non-VOR TACAN station CBU on the grounds of Portland International Airport works with the F-15 and F-35 if I dial it in correctly, so TACAN is definitely in the simulator’s system now.

Ok I understand now, thank you for that info.

Has anyone tried this in the SU10 beta? I read in another thread that SU10 brings some fuel system changes and I was wondering if they would alleviate the issues brought to this plane with SU9.

Greets ! I would love to know if we get the Planes Sound also for Multyplayer? Sadly all my mates 104s are silent at formation flying. ( Its really killing the immersion since we mostly fly together)

But i understand thats probably not the main thing to do…

Anyways thanks for the SSW detailed work!

Hi, I have a couple of issues and I would need some help from the devs, tried contacting support by email but got no answer:

I bought the plane from the marketplace.

  1. There is no manual in the Docs folder, I have the hints, checklist, SURE project, everything but the manual. Is there a way I can download it or get it?
  2. There is no .exe to make the Radar work, I understand the Marketplace doesn’t allow to distribute .exe files so where can I get the file to make the Radar work? Any download link?

And something else:
I notice the plane is very overpowered once it enters supersonic flight, I have to use the speedbrakes to avoid going over MACH 2 at level flight. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks for any help you can give me, love the plane.

About our question 2) I had the same problem as you because buying from marketplace. The developer give a link to download the radar .exe and explain where to put it on this post: Development of sim skunk works LOCKHEED TF-FRF-104 G - #959 by PaternalSmile51
Hope it helps

About the question 1) i found this on internet: Italian TF-104G-M Starfighter Flight Manual.pdf | DocDroid
Hope it helps too.

Hi, Thank you very much for the links!
Did you get the flightmanual in the marketplace version? If yes where did you find it? Maybe it’s hidden somewhere.

I don’t see it anymore in either the F or the TF folders. Bought both from Simmarket. The manual definitely used to be in there, because I uploaded it to my cloud drive when I initially purchased the plane.
