Not enough soviet birds here
I was thinking that as well the other day, when I saw one parked as part of a scenery package. Got really excited for a second until I noticed it was just a static bird.
A Yak-40 would make me very happy indeed. I’ve been a fan of these odd little trijets since the days of FS’98. Over the years there were a few freeware models of varying quality, but what I’d absolutely LOVE is an approaching-study-level Yak-40. Especially if it came with both VIP and passenger interiors.
I mean… it’s the perfect aircraft for this sim! You can fly slow or fast’ish, it’s got OK range, it handles unpaved runways and it’s even got the cool airstairs in the back… It’s everything I could ever want in an aircraft.
I’d pay - and I’m not even joking here - 150 euros for a study level example.
i doubt we are going to see something like that soon. maybe in 2 years, just maybe.
Yeah something tells me we’re not going to see another Russian aircraft in any simulation ever again, not sure what that can possibly be.
I’d like to think we as aviation fans are capable of looking beyond politics when it comes to what aircraft we enjoy flying. The aircraft itself is not to blame for how it’s used during conflicts (And I doubt they’re using Yak 40’s for that anyway
)
If anything, I’m hoping the current situation might get more people interested in Russian built aircraft. Especially now that they will need to use more of their own aircraft due to sanctions.
