DhruvSim MSFS VIDP

Pleased with the performance of DhuruvSim VIDP so far, looking forward to detailed reviews!

For the price that’s being asked (Only a few dollars cheaper than inibuilds KORD) and this being a new developer, I’m going to have to wait for it to go on sale. I just can’t justify it to myself and especially without reviews.

Bought it today and on first look, this is really a huge piece of work, congratulations! Will definitely give it a few flights this week, I’ve been waiting long for it.

Just a question. I noticed you mentioned in the readme the taxiway overpasses are not available in the taxi network for AI. Is it something that you’re planning to resolve in the future or did you give up on it with no solution in sight?

Not been able to figure out a solution right now, but I will try for the future updates

Landing video, plus airport tour (not mine).

Looks like PAPI are not aligned correctly, it was all red as aircraft crossed threshold even though it was just about half a dot below glideslope.

Also, it is priced steep. iniBuilds KORD is EUR 23 and this at EUR 20 (SimMarket) feels quiet on the higher side.

V1.1 corrects PAPI lights.

I picked up the airport. There are some things I really like, but others not so much. Maybe I should start by saying that even before I bought it, I knew I couldn’t expect Pyreegue or MK Studios-level quality from a new developer. That’s totally fine with me when it comes to airports outside of North America and Europe.

First, the positives. Overall, I like the modeling of the terminal buildings. The textures certainly aren’t on par with top developers, but they do a good job. I also like the nighttime lighting (even if it could be a bit brighter), as well as the jetways. The airport includes custom GSE, custom clutter, and animated airport traffic which is also very positive. The interior areas certainly aren’t among the very best, but for such a large airport, they’re more than sufficient for me. The performance is flawless in my opinion, and I didn’t notice any issues with AI traffic.

The ground textures are both a positive and a negative in my opinion. Generally speaking, I like the textures, and they’re high-resolution. On the other hand, however, some of them are still too clean and look too generic. This is particularly noticeable in front of Domestic Terminal 2. In reality, the apron there looks like a patchwork quilt of individual repaired concrete slabs. In DhruvSim’s scenery, however, it’s all just a homogeneous surface. The landside is very basic, which is generally okay for a large airport. But to me, the landside—especially behind Terminal 1D—is a little too rudimentary and offers virtually no details. There is currently no GSX profile, and the VDGS system isn’t working either. To be honest, the VDGS is very poorly modeled compared to other payware airports.

My biggest criticism, however, concerns the airport’s outskirts. In many places, I find the level of detail lacking to provide a sufficiently high degree of immersion. For example, when landing on Runway 27, you see the beautifully modeled Terminal 1D on the left. But if you look to the right, all you see—besides three blue hangars—is a large concrete area with no airplanes, clutter, or other details. A look at Google Maps shows that there’s actually much more to see there in reality. This lack of detail is particularly noticeable here, but it’s also evident in other parts of the airport.

Can I recommend the airport? Despite my criticisms,I think yes—if you lower your expectations a bit. I’m generally happy to have this important airport in my collection. And overall, I’d definitely say it’s solidly modeled. However, for the current price of a top-tier developer’s scenery, I think it’s too expensive. It has too many shortcomings for that. I’m hoping for further updates, because the airport definitely has the potential to become really good. These are my suggestions for improvements (listed in order of priority).

  • Significantly more detail in the cargo and peripheral areas of the airport, including clutter, airport infrastructure, and signs of wear on the taxiways.
  • A more authentic apron, especially in front of the Domestic Terminal 2
  • A functional VDGS, or at least one that looks better.
  • A GSX profile
  • A little more detail on the landside

I could imagine India wouldn’t be the easiest country to gather information for an accurate airport especially one that shares its facilities with the airforce.

Along with many of those Asian/Sub continent nations. There is hardly any 3d rendering of the cities.

I also find that airforce bases/aprons can become annoying in that realism/immersion factor regarding incorporating gates and taxiwais into the full airport and having civilian aircraft park there or get all stuck because they took the runway turnoff into the military base side

EUR 20 is pretty justified for an airport this size, it’s a very large project, and it’s difficult to get resources in a place like India. And the developer needs to recoup what they can because if they’re selling on Simmarket or elsewhere, their work will no doubt quickly be victimized by pirates.
