Just can’t understand this FS2020 HDR issue.
Pre SU5 or some date, HDR was very vivid (especially the colors).
I didn’t know how then and don’t have a nit value for then.
Then it changed.
Now, I can’t get my display to get higher that 237 nits.
It is spec’d at 1499 nits (QLED).
Concerning nit value for displays:
"The average for all TVs is about 450 nits. The higher the nit count, the brighter the picture will be. This is why HDR (high dynamic range) TVs can have such bright highlights—they need to be able to display nits up to 1000 or even 2000 nits for the really bright scenes.
Where the TV shines, both literally and figuratively, however, is with 4K HDR content. Sure, it never quite reaches the same peak brightness of QLED TVs from Samsung, but what’s on offer here will blow you away for the price."
My display, TCL 6-Series QLED, has a great display.
Colors appear to be okay. White to black appear okay.
I understand that nits is peak intensity and is not average or for the whole screen.
But, I wonder if I was able to, and right now, I am not able to,
because I can’t figure out how.
I have tried HDR and Color calibration. Max 237 nits.
I haven’t tried Special K yet.
I don’t know if I want to raise the nits of my HDR.
Will it just cause the display to wear out sooner?
I would like to maybe raise it to 500 nits.
Will Special K let you limit the nits or will it set it to the nits spec’d for the display?
