Yes, it’s very reasonable for them to not include the highest details for every possible city (for various reasons)–which is what I have said. Regarding the marketing, I kind of agree with you. But that is a criticism of marketing in general which is full of hyperbole. But we all understand marketing consists of hyperbole so it’s acceptable. Nobody has ever thought “As real as it gets” was a literal claim.
You’re asserting that Microsoft/Asobo, specifically, have acted unethically and are wronging you. That, for various reasons, they are morally obliged to have included Dallas. This is an absurd assertion which you keep defending and arguing for.
Fair enough. We obviously just have differing opinions on what is reasonable and whether MS delivered what they advertised. I’m in the affirmative for both; you clearly disagree.
No. They should not add everything for free in patches. Doing this would actually be a sign of not caring for their loyal fans/customers. Because adding everything for free is unsustainable and would put the MSFS team out of business and the customers would be left high and dry. Caring for the customers is done by having a business model that is beneficial to the customer and the business and the 3rd parties.
Have you tried doing a manual cache of the area? I see the Reunion Tower quite well on Bing Maps Aerial view straight up - is it available/viewable in the HIGH settings in the manual cache, and so maybe transferable into the sim?
That is the point I was trying to make. It DOES exists in Bing maps but for whatever reasons (I’ll let you speculate) Microsoft FS2020 doesn’t have anything for Dallas even though the sister city Fort Worth has it. Go figure…
I mean it COULD be a coincidence that London was left out and Orbx “came to the rescue” with their copy/paste fiasco … this is not a trend that bodes well for the future of Flight Simming to be honest with you.
I understand your frustration (to some extent at least) but I don‘t understand your accusations. I don’t see any substantial argument for your claim that MS deliberately removed the photogrammetry for Dallas or deliberately didn‘t properly handcraft the skyline in order to make money by selling a DLC. We exactly knew which cities would have photogrammetry and which airports would be handcrafted before the sim was released. I fail to see any form of deceit here.
No - unfortunately. I am at work and don’t have the sim acess. i did try my local area and others, and they were in much more detail after I did the cache.
Was wondering if that would have been an option in this case.
LOTS of details in this Bing Maps aerial. Weird why it wouldn’t cache over. Similar for other areas I’ve tried, but that is usually an "altitude’ issue with boats etc. (Pearl harbor, LBI, Chatham Coast Guard). Although also the use of generic bldgs instead of detailed as seen in cache screen. Hmmm…
This version of Microsoft Flight Simulator never existed before. Therefore, they haven’t retroactively removed something.
Maybe nobody has told you this, but you and the great city of Dallas are not the most important things in the world.
There is no denying that it has been “kept in” for every other version of Flight Simulator since 1995 and now in the year 2020 it has no longer been “kept in”… Of course it goes without saying each new version has “never existed before” but that is just arguing semantics since the crux of the matter is that what has been previously included in every other version has now all of a sudden not been included anymore in this version. This is the functional equivalent in software to retroactive removal of existence features.
Yes, I agree. But retroactively removing a feature still isn’t an ethical issue (if that’s even what MS did). Mistakes happen. Decisions change. Priorities change. It would be ethically wrong if they deliberately deceived you into thinking Dallas would be included so that you purchased the product, and they knew all along that they weren’t going to include Dallas in the base product. They never even promised you that Dallas would be included in the highest possible detail–let alone a deliberate deception.
We don’t know the reasons for them not including it. Maybe when they went to transfer over to the sim, stuff didn’t render properly? Maybe the data they had wasn’t good enough? We don’t know, and can only speculate. But as @Shack952514 has mentioned, there’s nothing to indicate deceit or nefarious deeds that you claim. They didn’t not include it simply to make you, personally, mad. And as we’ve mentioned, Dallas is far from the only one. We just have to accept how it is. You also can’t really compare to previous games, because they didn’t make the cities as they do here. Arguing it should be in this version when it was in past is like apples to oranges.
You also act like Dallas isn’t in the game at all. That it’s just completely wiped off that map.
It would be (or later become a legal issue) depending upon if they followed though with coming out with Dallas DLC and then never fixing the baseline Dallas to have a standard baseline quality that was not dependent upon the upselling of future DLCs nor the purchase of premium packages after the fact…
Correct it is the INCONSISTENCY and nonsensical JUXTAPOSITION that is so jarring… I would rather they did the Reunion tower and a small handful of three or four other iconic skyscrapers than the single AT&T Stadium that is not at all representative of Dallas and cannot even be readily seen if had the other buildings not all disappeared.
Fort Worth has photogrammetry but nothing for Dallas…
Absolutely nothing makes sense and its like they are just randomly doing whatever and see what sticks
You say nonsensical when you have absolutely no insight into the process. You don’t. Simply because it is in high definition on Bing does not mean it’s nonsensical to have been excluded. If you knew the exact process, and everything that went into it, then maybe you could say that. But you don’t. I don’t. Nobody here does. So to say it’s nonsensical is just…nonsense.
You need to distance yourself from this issue. You are far too worked up and have way too many personal feelings into this. That’s not good for your health.
I think there may be some misunderstanding on how the Cache system works. It can only download 3D data if the data exists in Bing Maps or Earth View Map 3D and if that was the case it would be visible in the sim.
