That screenshot is from google maps, not Bing.
I can not stress enough how little we in Europe care about Dallas.
Agreed. Likely just another troll post unfortunately. Boo boo - I can’t see my neighborhood that great, but I could care less - I see it every time I drive! I’m also having a blast exploring new places
This screenshots is not showing photogrammetry. This is still a flat 2D image. Photogrammetry is a method to create actual 3D objects out of images. This has simply not been done for Dallas on Bing maps and can’t therefore not be included in the sim.
Dallas got hit pretty hard recently, the least Asobo can do is give us our buildings and skylines back to boost morale

Hey there! This thread is really funny one.
The undeniable truth is that our Dallas based friend does have a big real problem, but what I’m afraid of is, that this particular one has nothing to do with MSFS. It’s simply his ego-centric nature, nothing else.
While many of us has also spent $120 equivalent on this literary revolutionary piece of software and not complaining / blaming MS for things that has been clearly communicated to us before purchase, he is just repeating the mantra of how epic failure it is not having his top important part of the world in the top achievable quality (at the moment of game release).
I believe that for most people the current trade-off, I mean what we can get/expect for “just" $120, is pretty fair and acceptable.
Just to be clear, I live in Czechia and actually here is no single location with photogrammetry within the whole country available. But the quality of the autogen, plus satellite imagery underneath, is perfect enough for precise VFR flights.
As a real-world pilot I should know something about it and for me the sim is just a great opportunity for continue flying when not sitting in the real plane.
Fair enough for me. And if someone offers any kind of paid (or free) add on that covers my country with real photogrammetry / landmarks, I’ll appreciate it as a bonus and will definitelly be willing to pay them some extra oney for it.
Whilst we all have the right not use (or simply not purchase) products that simply don’t satisfy us, the producer has undeniable right make the product snd the business model as they intended. Just market will show… And there is always a lot of room for some future adjustments to keep things working.
Sorry for my non perfect english.
Thank you and enjoy the sim anyway!
I don’t think its for evil purposes
I tend to consider Czechia a strategic area for Europe and thus the world. MS/Asobo should step up their game und deliver all of Czechia in crisp photgrammetric quality, for free of course.
And don’t forget all the nice ladies you have there in Czechia, which might also be affected by some furloughs…
The entitlement of some people…
There is a reason why people with conspiracy theories tend to spawn out of Texas. Not sure if it is the heat or anything else, just wow reading this thread.
Who spends so much effort to complain about a city? Mr Karen.
I for one do not want Asobo to spend one half minute to “fix” this area that is more important than Washington DC, New York, London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong and Moscow.
Right. A good example is the Washington Monument in DC. The monument is there in Bing in 2D, with a distinct ground shadow to the north (judging by foliage, the satellite image was taken in the fall, with the sun to the south). In MSFS, you can clearly see the shadow. But BlackShark AI has placed a tall, narrow skyscraper on the site of the monument. It has the footprint and the height, but doesn’t know what the building should look like, so it chooses a common type - in this case an office building.
If Drzewiecki Design ever does an MSFS version of their Washington DC scenery, I’ll buy it just to have the landmarks. I live just outside DC, so it’d be nice to upgrade. In the meantime, am happily flying over weird AI Washington and not getting my shorts in a knot about it…
It’s 100% true, of course!
Shame on MS/ASOBO that they forgot (intentionally, I’m sure about this) include my favourite airport/city/country. Moreover, they didn’t include my favourite local grocery, pizzeria, public toilet, cinema and my favorite seat in the middle of the third row from very top.
I’ts not a conspiracy, that’s a clear fact, without any doubts!
Btw. In real world, LKPR is very important and strategic airport for central Europe. Even more, curremtly it’s named after very popular czech ex-president Vaclav Havel. How they could forget his legacy!
TBH, I didn’t expect any of my country is available in photogrammetry/handcrafted quality. Not at the moment of fresh release. And I don’t expect it to happen in near future. There is pretty simple logic behind this, not a rocket science.
In our world everything is about balance between budget, time and quality. Because of that there will always be some compromises and prioritization of things. That’s how this world works. Sad that there are people that can’t simply overcome the fact, but their shame. I believe that they are really sad in their lives and generally are unable to fully enjoy things.
Bottomline, I’m sure that people in ASOBO works hard. They already did a great job so far. And I believe that aside the money they get for their work, they also deserve some compliments from us. Not only complaints and negative moods.
They clearly stated that release is just the beginning. It has been also clearly stated that they will continue with their effort and btw. continually improve the whole World areas in the future, including some hand crafted stuff. So we need just to enjoy the current state (and we already do) and look forward for the future. There will be one, including their core and 3rd partners.
Howg.
The AI could use some work. I have a river bed near my house that hasn’t had water for decades as is seen in the satellite image and Bing maps, but in FS it is full of water. Makes me mad it doesn’t have that much water IRL, I could go sailing.
Op might tell you, that MS did this intentionally
They did this to sell you some DLC for fixing your local riverbed.
No it’s not a strategic area for ‘the world’ at all so take your biased blinkers off because if you’re not already there yet, you’re bordering on just plain trolling. Get this little slice of reality. Dallas is JUST one city, in one state, in ONE country in a really big world that this sim covers. Dallas is 385 sq miles in size. The Earth is 197 million sq miles. On a global scale it’s miniscule. A global scale means outside the borders of Dallas, Texas, and indeed outside the borders of the USA just in case you weren’t sure. I’d argue that if you did a poll of the most desirable cities to model just in the US, Dallas wouldn’t be up there fighting with more prominent other ones. On a global scale you wouldn’t even get a look in. Rational arguments get people’s attention in the right way, spouting nonsense has the opposite effect.
Yawn… how many more times are you going to make the same point? Dallas is not modelled to the Nth degree. Get over it, life’s too short.
As someone who lives in the Peak District in England, we are one of the top tourist destinations in the UK, and thus the world, and I am outraged that a local pseudo-landmark is missing!
Funniest thread I’ve read in a while. Thanks to all who contributed.
I don’t think you what know Photogrammetry is.
I’m staring right at the list of Bing Photogrammetry supported cities. Dallas isn’t one of them. I’m also staring at the Bing app in 3d mode on downtown Dallas. Flat as a pancake.
Also, entitled boomer acts like a whiny baby on the internet. News at 11.
Hey, for what is worth I noticed some changes in photogrammetry coverage in the last couple of months - I hope it’s because Bing is updating the coverage and I have no clue if that’s what actually happening to Dallas.
Example: Rome, Italy. The city is covered by photogrammetry but a reasonable chunk is (now) missing and this is quite evident in-sim too as it switches to autogen for those areas. I also know that the missing areas used to be covered because I showed my parents their house via Windows Maps (Bing data) just a couple of months ago.
I think I’ll need to look for a Bing changelog, if there’s one at all. But I don’t think they’re leaving spots open on purpose.
Thread of the year…
This is the problem with FS, they have relied too much on this BlackShark AI system and have not used other data sources to double check what should be where. The result is poorer accuracy than ORBX scenery who at least have churches where they should be, powerlines, cell and broadcasting towers and relatively accurate building types. Yes those buildings are not as detailed or as well modelled but the point is why did MS & Asobo not use the same data sources as ORBX do in conjunction with the BlaccShark AI? It would have resulted in more accurate scenery.
As for BlackShark AI, it isnt intelligent enough as yet, that much is obvious. I guess it will get better as long as they keep working on it and dont think, “That’s it, job done”
